I have always had amazingly good support from Apple. I had recent graphic
problems... I and Apple thought it was hardware (I showed them a video of
the problem). Two days later they had someone at my house - he replaced my
logicboard (with its CPU), my GPU, and the fans in the computer (there was
also a high pitched sound coming from the machine from time to time).
Oddly enough it did not fix the problem - nor did re-installing the OS. Next
is to try a new user account. Sorta backwards troubleshooting there, but
with the weird graphic glitches it seemed to be hardware related. It has
only happened in one program since the hardware updates - and even then it
was mostly happening with that program (CyberDuck), but it also happened
elsewhere a number of times (or at least similar video oddities).

Wall Street is still taking a wait-and-see attitude with Cook.
Apple's stock ended last week at $585.24, well below its peak of
$705.07 reached in September 2012, but still a 56 per cent gain
since Cook became CEO.
-----
He has done a lot - if nothing else really improving Apple in areas of
environmental and other social concerns. Still, I know what you are saying -
other than the Mac Pro what do we have? Mavericks is a decent update but
nothing amazing (though OS X *finally* got decent memory handling). The Mac
Pro seems great... and some of the pro apps got decent upgrades (the speed
alone of the video software is amazing). Other than that: iWork updates that
are pretty bad (still no ability to resize to width and have it stick if you
resize the window... insane... even the web version has that!).

It is time they do something else to wow people. A big challenge with their business model is they find markets that already exist but are served poorly. They change these markets radically... but it is inevitable that others will copy their successes. Even if they stay ahead of the game, the difference is reduced. This happened in desktop computers, music players, tablets, and more. The competition may or may not be as good, but it becomes good enough. Apple then needs to innovate elsewhere. I, frankly, was amazed at how many times they pulled rabbits out of their hats to keep doing this. Here are some of your fairly recent lies (if you need exact quotes I am sure I can dig those up): * A point was made specific to Texas. I asked for details. - You lie about me thinking Texas is not a part of the U.S. In short you know you have nothing to back the specific point made (no other reason for you to run so fast!) * The video on the NRA stands unrefuted. - You lie about it not having falsifiable info. It does. No reason to think it is not right on those claims. * The Cliven Bundy nonsense where a trespassing thief is demanding government handouts and arguing against the right to bear arms as he denies the existence of this government but runs around carrying the U.S. flag! He also spews tons of racist nonsense. Add to that the right-wing Christian terrorists backing this moron and you have all kinds of crazy wrapped up in one bat-shit crazy package. - You lie and claim that the fact he is getting attention shows he is not spewing nonsense. Completely irrational. Then you sink to name calling and personal attacks. Your typical "out" when you know you are wrong. * ObamaCare: hardly perfect but clearly a huge step forward for the country. - You lie about it being unconstitutional and then sink to racist nonsense. * You spew racist nonsense. - You say this is fine because you do not feel racist and it is not illegal for you to be one. You are a racist. Period. * Canada being liberal *compared to the U.S.*: this is clearly true given how the Canadian public repeatedly shows support for the Democratic candidate in U.S. elections (generally by a wide margin) - You deny I am right as you show you cannot understand what is being said, and then jump to your insults. * You spoke of the *adding* of something as "negative" reinforcement, the "negative" in the context of "negative reinforcement" specifically refers to the *removal* of something. You simply are wrong, by the definition of the terms being used. - You deny it and spew your typical attacks. -- * Mint MATE: Trash, Panel, Menu: <http://youtu.be/C0y74FIf7uE> * Mint KDE bugs or Easter eggs? <http://youtu.be/CU-whJQvtfA> * Mint KDE working with folders: <http://youtu.be/7C9nvniOoE0> * Mint KDE creating files: <http://youtu.be/N7-fZJaJUv8> * Mint KDE help: <http://youtu.be/3ikizUd3sa8> * Mint KDE general navigation: <http://youtu.be/t9y14yZtQuI> * Mint / LibreOffice: <http://youtu.be/USU9iqppfto> * Win 8 / Word 2013: <http://youtu.be/z8gUL2TCcV4> * Mavericks / Pages 5.1: <http://youtu.be/D3BPWANQoIk>

Here are just some lies from you (or at least claims made completely
contrary to reality). Warning... this post is very long!
Silver Slimer:
-----
Every household HAS to have a firearm and they have crime rates
BELOW the rest of America? But the liberals told me this was
IMPOSSIBLE!
-----
But as far as you have shown, nobody of any political leaning has told you
this. Even if one did, or a small number, your implication is that this is
what most liberals are saying. That is completely unsupported - and this was
done in the context of a video where reasonable and responsible gun owners
were discussed.
Silver Slimer (speaking of "Its opposition to sensible gun laws"):
-----
Does the Constitution give every citizen the right to bear arms?
Yes? Remove the first point then.
-----
This implied that any law dealing with gun regulations is unconstitutional.
This is clearly not true.
Silver Slimer:
-----
The problem with the video is that his "points" aren't points at all.
-----
But of course they were points. You might not agree with them, but you lied
and denied they even existed because you could not refute them.
Silver Slimer:
-----
An armed citizen is a safe citizen.
-----
This is demonstrably not true based on the number of accidental gun deaths
and people using guns to try to defend themselves but still being injured or
killed. The evidence of them even being safer than others is unclear - no
less just "safe" in general.
Silver Slimer:
-----
The government is your friend, I get it.
-----
There is good and bad to the government. While I certainly would not want to
live without one at all, I have never suggested I support all of what it
does. Not even close. Your claim was in response to my noting nonsense
conspiracy claims are silly... not even anything about the government.
Silver Slimer:
-----
I hope you also respect the fact that I won't participate in
this thread at all.
-----
But you continued to over and over.
Silver Slimer:
-----
My threads were out of whack but Snit seems to have completely
ignored the fact that the lands he referred to were *NOT* public
land.
-----
I only referred to the lands Bundy was being told to stop trespassing on -
Federal lands. Public lands. I am not sure, but I believe they have been
since they were purchased from Mexico in the 1800s.
Silver Slimer:
-----
Apparently you didn't follow the story AT ALL and decided to
believe whatever the government-sponsored media decided was the
truth.
-----
I had not mentioned any source - and certainly did not imply I was basing my
views only on what PBS, NPR, and other government sponsored media was
saying.
Silver Slimer:
-----
You're asking us to debate very subjective points made by an
insignificant human being with no academic credentials.
-----
I do not believe I ever asked anyone to debate the subject - I am open to
seeing where you think I did. But as far as the claim of the points being
subjective, that is demonstrably untrue. There are many objective points
made.
Silver Slimer:
-----
There is nothing to refute.
-----
This is in reference to a video with many falsifiable points. It simply is
not true that there are not points one could try to refute if they disagreed
with them.
Silver Slimer:
-----
Therefore, right-wingers in general are all stupid and what they
say doesn't matter.
----
You were falsely attributing this thought to me. If was extremely dishonest
of you given how I never said anything of the sort and strongly disagree
with the view.
Silver Slimer:
-----
The very idea of implementing laws which lessen or nullify the
Second Amendment is exactly that.
-----
This was said in reference to a video that did not suggest nullifying the
second amendment in whole or in part. Nor did anyone else in the discussion
about it.
Silver Slimer:
-----
Evidence has already been shown to you and I know that you've
seen it, yet you persist in claiming the exact opposite of what
that evidence states.
-----
I never denied anything contrary to the evidence in the NRA thread, no less
"persisted" in doing so.
Silver Slimer:
-----
Snit only seems to rely on CNN and MSNBC, known propagandists,
for his news.
-----
This was after you attacked me for using a source other than these two. You
knew your claim was false.
Silver Slimer:
-----
Every single time you point to the video, you're suggesting that
it has some sort of worth to the discussion. OPINIONS HAVE NO
WORTH IN ANY DEBATE.
-----
This is in response to a video with many falsifiable claims. You responded
with many opinions... which here you claim have no value!
Silver Slimer:
-----
You've systematically disregarded his hundreds of illegal
executive orders.
-----
Unsupported nonsense. In fact, you admit yourself you will not even try to
show them. How can I "disregard" what has not even been shown! Your claim is
irrational and dishonest.
Silver Slimer:
-----
ANY FUCKING LAW INFLUENCING GUN OWNERSHIP WILL EITHER LESSEN OR
NULLIFY THE SECOND AMENDMENT.
-----
Clearly untrue, especially since the second amendment is a part of the law!
How can a law nullify or lessen itself? Why would other related laws do so
necessarily? Completely irrational nonsense.
Silver Slimer:
-----
The very suggestion of a new gun law is indeed an attack on the
Second Amendment.
-----
An opinion... the very thing you claimed has no worth.
Silver Slimer:
-----
What kind of fucking kool- aid did your friend Obama have you
drink for you to be unable to grasp something so fucking simple?
-----
Here you dishonestly tie a discussion on the NRA to Obama, who is not even a
member as far as I know and certainly does not speak for them, nor was he
mentioned in the video or by me in this discussion.
Silver Slimer:
-----
You keep believing that you're objective all the while
disregarding anything which might be even slightly right of the
leftist beliefs you hold.
-----
Given how I have repeatedly talked about where I disagree with the American
left this is clearly not true. A lie.
Silver Slimer:
-----
Every single one of your positions is a left one down to your
disgust with religion and inability to see ANYTHING positive
about faith.
-----
I have specifically talked about positive attributes of faith. Your claim is
directly contrary to truth.
Silver Slimer:
-----
Being "you" means rehashing every Marxist idea under the sun and
treating it as the most intelligent statement ever with a
complete disregard for any differing opinion.
-----
A completely unsupported and dishonest representation of my views.
Silver Slimer:
-----
The video is a piece of propaganda in the vein of "The Jew Suss"
used by Nazi Germany.
-----
Complete nonsense. And if true you would be able to show where the
falsifiable claims were incorrect. You never did.
Silver Slimer:
-----
Let's have laws in which people need to register their firearms
and have them be confiscated for registering incorrectly as well
as mandatory psychological tests which can evaluate even normal
people as being crazy and therefore discard their right to own a
gun... but neither one of these two in ANY WAY limits their
right to own a gun.
-----
Nothing in the video suggested mandatory psychological tests. This was a
complete fabrication on your part.

Despite buying the tablet, I'll use it lightly if I go on vacation or something since its long battery life is always appreciated. However, come my birthday, I'm finally upgrading this laptop to the most recent i7 and not looking back. Tablets are seriously a pretty lame fad and I think we'll all be happier when they're finally gone. -- Silver Slimer

I'll be happy once store-bought laptops no longer have a maximum of 1366x768 or 1600x900 as a resolution. Even yesterday, I couldn't find a laptop which happened to have a 1080p resolution. I won't settle for anything with less nowadays. However, more is pretty much overkill to me. I doubt a retina display would do much to improve my experience. -- Silver Slimer

Well, I've already determined that I'll be buying my next laptop from System76 and their products all seem to have 1080p. I could get something which has some sort of retina display (or a higher resolution since I don't really like that name) but it looks like Apple is usually the source of those products and I don't want to ever give them any more money. -- Silver Slimer
