The compiler sees that the type of the argument does not match the type specified in the template string and thus it issues a warning. But it's only a warning. The program will still execute but it won't give the expected results. You should get a debugger, like gdb, and run the compiled program through the debugger. Then you will be able to see the actual locations of the variables and what is in them at various points. For learning C a debugger is crucial.

Debugging is as necessary as writing the code. Only rarely does code perform as expected and there has to be some way to see what's happening. Of course, if one uses OO frameworks where most everything is pre-built for the phony programmer, then debugging may be only a distant thought. But the TRUE programmer using a REAL language MUST debug.

If the programmer is fairly certain that the trouble is localized to a small area then debug print statements can be a quick way to find the cause. But if weird shit is happening and there is no clue to where the problem lies then a bone fide debugger is the ONLY way to proceed. One has to be able to set breakpoints, step through code, and monitor variables and only a debugger can do the job.

I'm not pro level with JavaScript (though I have done it for $$) and I find great value in a debugger (I just use the Chrome browser console). I'm sure this'll turn your stomach... I'm thinking X-Code... cuz I already have it ;)

An unceasing, acute, posting itch, despite nothing to say - fundamentally gunky Chris Ahlstrom tarts, and vigorously-greased ram, scared stiff by loud music for his own secret requirements. Nobody gets it, I ain't done gone got it. Both Mendel and Chris Ahlstrom had their omissions and their awkward moments. One played it as supernatural and didn't do anything too appalling that could not be obfuscated with a larger scandal. Where did you find your scripts? What Klaus Schadenfreude does is certainly technically correct. I'm well aware the junk I link to from this group is total amateur level; that said, it works. -- "You'll notice how quickly he loses interest when everything is about him. Only what Desk Rabbit wants matters to Desk Rabbit. There is nothing Klaus Schadenfreude can do to change that. It's a chance to cause harm and it is what it is. LOL! Give me a break, chap... even you have kill filtered that lamebrain. Given what Desk Rabbit is no one would condemn me for working to be rid of his ridiculous form of inanity. Because x is a POINTER TO CHAR. You are passing a pointer and hoping it
can be cast to a char. It can of course, as anything is possible in C
give or take, but you really dont want to. The char you will end up with
will probably be the lsb of the pointer word.
,----
| char *x;
`----
%c in printf is a single char.
if x were set then
,----
| printf("%c",*x);
`----
would make more sense.
There is a HUGE difference between %c and %s.
Basic C.
