They are members of what they believe is an elite group. I've worked since the 60s on, working computer systems, and the best one back then was DEC. David Cutler developed VMS in the late 70s and was very successful, as he was the systems architect. He still works for MS, only in his own way of programming software and better tools. A lot of people don't realize that inside windows os is a fault tolerant os and a self healing os. Something that is hard to do these days. All that it boils down to is windows is its own operating system and is not UNIX. The only other os that I know of that accomplishes what Cutler did was Sun OS, which Bill Joy had a hand in its development and also does fault tolerant/self healing os. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. To me, the file system layout of windows os is rather strange, but then so was VMS, where the root base of the directory structure was [000000] and all other directories were placed tree fashion below it. UNIX file system structure is "/" as root, and then of course the original BSD structure of /bin, /etc, /usr, /var, /opt, /local, etc. When comparing them side by side one can see some similarities between them but is more difficult to see in both VMS and windows. You just have to get familiarized is all. Usually, your first os you learn is also your adopted method of seeing things, and anything else looks foreign or odd. This is one of the problems of these advocates that have those horse blinders on.

He seemed like a nice guy until the COLA Cabal started attacking me, at which point he folded and like a good soldier followed orders and started to attack me as well. The old-school vi is a bit archaic. But vim is manifestly not archaic. One guy at work said, "Why do you use the old crap?", as I used the console version of vim.
