True, it is a trade-of, particularly as some of the docking
arrangements are uglier than others ... but considering that
the alternative is to transfer working files back & forth
between two PCs, it is IMO a net gain because of convenience.

But let's call them "workstations."

Who would even conceive of anything other than a workstation for
serious computing?

My workstation has a 40" LED monitor and WIDE ergonomic keyboard
as well as a bona fide "mouse" pointing device. How could that
piddling "postage stamp" of a laptop screen and keyboard that requires
a pencil to push and extremely unnatural and awkward trackball
ever compete?

One could claim that some sacrifices have to made for the sake
of portability but in most of the USA a laptop is NOT portable.
Using a laptop on a bus or a train or in another public space will
only invite robbery. Sooner or later someone or some group is going
to steal that laptop at the point of a gun and maybe even leave
you dead.

Laptops are for those disgusting assholes who sit at Starbucks
so as to be seen engaged in some superhuman activity when all
they are doing is posting some inane junk to Twitter or Facebook.
What lame imbeciles!

I'm always reasonable, Fabian, and you know it. 8)

"Me too" on the big monitor, ergo keyboard, and mouse.

Obviously, these can be connected to a laptop, too. That solution
doesn't appeal to me, but it's a good choice for many. It's obviously
a lot more expensive than a simple workstation of the same
performance...

Trackballs are actually a lot more responsive than a mouse for some. Of
course, you need to get one tailored to your needs. I prefer the marble
to be where the thumb is whereas some trackball users prefer it to be
where the middle finger is. To each his own but the design of the M570
from Logitech is perfect if not for its crappy clicking mechanism. As
for screens, people CAN work on smaller screens. Not everyone is an
engineer or a programmer. People who write or prepare presentations will
find the screen to be just fine.

Unless you respect the Second Amendment enough to pack a gun as well. If
I were in the United States, I'd definitely do everything in my power to
have a right to concealed carry.

Those aren't assholes; they're filthy hippies. They're the same "brave"
losers who wear a mask at protests and beat on vulnerable individuals
who won't fight back like the elderly, women or children.

My next monitor will be a HeadSet, hopefully.

Now that I've got Win10's "Touch Keyboard" working,
I no longer need my bulky g910 keyboard.

My 39 button g600 mouse (Jeff-Relf.Me/g600.PNG)
and g633 HeadSet are portable, but not my ArmMounted,
40 inch, 4k, curved monitor ( set to arm's length ).

But Meat feels the need to belittle the herd. It was Meat who got caught using untold numbers of puppets time and time again, and these are 'people' who come clearly out of the blue directly into threads where he was getting his ass handed to him... over and over for years. This forum is a puss-filled cyst.

I bet we have two different ideas for a good reason.

Get a background check on Meat and you will find that he was in a correctional facility last year. The online reports do not go into that degree of specificity and court records have to be court ordered.

I can read the SuperFine print on U.S. currency; most people can't.
Now that I'm almost 60, in a dark room, I need to shine a light on it.

_If_ I wanted to read the menu at McDonald's,
or watch a show at the theater, I'd need glasses;
but I don't, so I don't need glasses.

My eyes get tired, these days, after 16 hours of heavy computer usage.

try using a keyboard that doesn't require a monitor, like a piano keyboard.

Just look at your junk and look at vallor's, there is nothing for anyone to learn from a fool like Steve Carroll. But hey, let him keep making an ass of himself. He can make another sock to pat himself on the back.

For the record, taking time educating yourself is never wasted time. Believing you know more than everyone else and making an effort to persuade others that it is true, as Steve Carroll tries to do? That is a waste ;)

What is your evidence?

It's a prank call. ronb has already decided what he is going to say before he calls. What you say does not matter. What Snit Glasser says is beside the point.

Can UTF-8 characters be concatenated into a string with a logical connection to the "real" world; that is the question posed recently by those astonished at the endless babbling of "advocates" and basement-dwelling ultra-cranks. It does not matter because the FROM line on a post is irrelevant, it's the content that counts. I'm not fuming, he wants me to be but I'm in stitches because ronb's lying is so absurd. He actively did not list all the tasks that he would inevitably focus on... and we all know why. At least he has trolls rushing to his rescue ;)

Rambling cretin.

I am not irate, he wants me to be but I am in stitches because Jonas Eklundh Communication AB's nonsense is so transparent. He purposefully didn't list all the tasks that he would inevitably dismiss... and we all know why. At least he has trolls to back him ;)

How is failing a universal consciousness tied to flatlining brain waves in any way going to lead to enlightened group posting?

Absolute malarkey by a delusional, misleading, conniving, colluding mouth-breather who couldn't tell the truth no matter what his socks/shills say.

Despite Jonas Eklundh Communication AB's claim that he has "no enthusiasm in making trouble" (a lie as evidenced by the fact that he destroyed CSMA with his crap) he was quoted asking people how they would trick someone to give up their password.

Well... like I said, Melzzzzz would never deny the flooder is Onion Knight, who is a AppleScripter but I don't know if it could be used to spam like this.

Time to blame anything but Linux! From the manner Onion Knight asked - by asking for details of the OS and more - he has certainly not handled a graphically complex issue before. Otherwise he would have understood the requirements such as knowing what are local and global variables! Onion Knight is again seen alleging "CANNOT BE FOUND" when it comes to info on a site where it is there multiple times... but Onion Knight is just too simpleminded and distracted to understand any data he reads.

40 inches isn't so big. I sit only 2 meters from my 55" monitor, at
home.

You can't imagine how sad that statement is.

The entire buffonery is full of unbelievable gaps and leans heavily on John Gohde's 'master's degree' nonsense. John Gohde has toned down the zillions of self-serving, nonsense attacks he used to create but he is clearly not much different in the honesty dept. He just uses puppets more to make those circuses.

Despite my deep dislike of Ubuntu, I continue to load it for newbies who've had difficulties with the Mac.

These morons get their enjoyment out of drawing out angry responses to their attacks, which is the very definition of a troll. If Michael Glasser Snit has 'myFile.txt' open in a program such as LibreOffice Writer and John Gohde wants to change its name to 'c.doc' via a GUI menu item, Michael Glasser Snit's method might be wise, if only to guarantee the watcher scripts do not collide. Frankly I do not really care.

Marek admitted Carroll repeatedly asked him to lie:

 Marek <NPWdnVgF_NwsozXEnZ2dnUU7-YvNnZ2d@giganews.com>:
    -----
When I first tried to broker peace between you [Steve Carroll] and
Snit, you emailed me over and over again asking be to lie about
	Glasser.
    -----

And then Marek later admitted he DOES lie, but claimed he does it simply because it pleases him to do so:

  Marek <keCdnc7hoMqpfy3EnZ2dnUU7-YHNnZ2d@giganews.com>:
    -----
    | Why do you post your attacks and insults and lies if not to please
    | the herd?

I do it to please me, Snit.
    -----

Whatever his reason for lying, even Marek admits he lies and attacks and insults.

Yes, with obvious scripted sessions. Not saying some of it isn't manual.

For "later" to occur!

<http://usenet.sandman.net/misc/postingtimes/Snit/Flooding>

That's a running tally of Snit's non-sock posts and his flooding during the
last month. It'll update automatically and always show the last two months.
