Peter, will you now admit that DFS is, among other things, stupid?

I've got over 1600 packages installed, a boatload of tools for creating
documentation, building application, creating music, and a lot more than
that.

And there are about 40000 more I could potentially install.

That's a lot of packages to vet for bugs, eh?

Of course, this is Debian Sid, not Ubuntu :-)

"What is wrong" with Peter, Dumfsck wonders, that he thinks that
packages in the repository, but not installed by default, "count".

This kind of egregious stupidity from Dumfsck is routine. Daily. No
one can miss it.

I don't know why you bother with the classless bigot -- he just (tries

No wonder his nickname is "Bull", heh.

Well, I have had the dumb fsck KF'ed since he first showed-up in

Install Ubuntu and you get a few dozen apps. Many thousands are
available, but they're not included with the distributon.

Actually, I think that Peter is referring to the fact that the operating
system itself is a combination of packages. You're speaking of
applications whereas he seems to be talking about their libraries and
including them in the term "package."

Wrong, as usual. No surprise from you here

What cretinous dimbulb has postulated that all available packages absolutely
*have* *to* come with the base distro? Who is that abjectly stupid that he
can't include additional repos with some mouseclicks?
User needs are different, and so it is just normal to have repos with
different target audience

At least DumbFullSnit admits that he is unable to do so extremely simple
tasks

About 99 percent of end users which is one reason why Linux is doing so
miserably as a desktop alternative to Windows.

First the user has to know the repositories exist in the first place.
Then the user has to make sure he doesn't include something which will
conflict with the other repositories and make a mess of things.
That's the problem with Linux. People aren't interested in wasting time
fucking with it.

I'm not telling users who know about Linux anything.
I'm telling you Peter Klownman.
Draw your own conclusions.

Nope. They only have to poke around the menus.

They don't even have to know about "apt-get".

They don't need to. That's the beauty of apt-get and it's workalikes.

If the trolling Little Prat in a Small Puddle (the 40tude.net troll) had
actually *used* a Linu distro, he'd know what utter stupidity his
statement above is.

I prefer to listen to what the Linux distribution manufacturers say about
this rather than a janitor who cleans toilet bowls all day.

https://en.opensuse.org/Additional_package_repositories

This is a list of currently existing third-party repositories, meaning
they're external to openSUSE. These packages are not supported by openSUSE,
the packages may not be tested and the repositories can contain beta
versions and other bleeding edge packages.

For official repositories (OSS, non-OSS, Update, Update-Non-OSS) and semi
official repositories (including KDE, GNOME and Java repositories) see
Package repositories.

For information on how to add package repositories see Add package
repositories.

For new Linux and openSUSE users it is recommended to use the 4 default
repositories (OSS, Non-OSS, Update, Update-Non-OSS) and Packman. Later on
when you familiarize yourself with package management you can add more.

*Please, make sure that you actually need a specific repository instead of
blindly adding it. More repositories means more complexity in software
management and needs some experience to avoid problems and, in extreme
cases, system failure.*

*Warning Use it at your own risk.*

    Suse is a SERVER vendor.

    Professoinal sysadmins can handle themselves.

The trolling Flatfish (Little Prat in a Small Puddle - the
40tude.net troll) has just shown that he has NO idea WTF he's talking
about. When you install openSUSE KDE, GNOME or whatever desktop you choose,
the repositories are automatically set up in YaST.
If teh dimwit could read & understand, he would note that website says
*Additional_package_repositories* which you can add or *not*.

As for "a janitor who cleans toilet bowls all day" LOL, he would know all
about *that* as he swims about in one!

Duh?
The context was adding additional repositories.
Do try to keep up.

That's only relevant if it's necessary. I can't speak to Suse, but it
generally is not with Ubunutu. Perhaps that's why you decided to pick on
Suse instead. You thought it would be obscure enough that people wouldn't
call you out on your obvious bullshit.
