About 99 percent of end users which is one reason why Linux is doing so miserably as a desktop alternative to Windows. First the user has to know the repositories exist in the first place. Then the user has to make sure he doesn't include something which will conflict with the other repositories and make a mess of things. That's the problem with Linux. Nope. They only have to poke around the menus.
They don't even have to know about "apt-get".

They don't need to. That's the beauty of apt-get and it's workalikes.

I prefer to listen to what the Linux distribution manufacturers say about this rather than a janitor who cleans toilet bowls all day. https://en.opensuse.org/Additional_package_repositories This is a list of currently existing third-party repositories, meaning they're external to openSUSE. These packages are not supported by openSUSE, the packages may not be tested and the repositories can contain beta versions and other bleeding edge packages. For official repositories (OSS, non-OSS, Update, Update-Non-OSS) and semi official repositories (including KDE, GNOME and Java repositories) see Package repositories. For information on how to add package repositories see Add package repositories. For new Linux and openSUSE users it is recommended to use the 4 default repositories (OSS, Non-OSS, Update, Update-Non-OSS) and Packman. Later on when you familiarize yourself with package management you can add more. *Please, make sure that you actually need a specific repository instead of blindly adding it. More repositories means more complexity in software management and needs some experience to avoid problems and, in extreme cases, system failure.* *Warning Use it at your own risk.* -- You Ain't The Biggest Fish In The Crotch.
