This is true no matter what platform you're using as the stuff on that media is a lot of time by a lot of people. He's just used to doing high-end pro audio work on Linux I guess. I don't know anything about that stuff, so I don't know what the cause of the failure was with the Mac. I told him if I were him I would just stick to what everybody else is using (defacto Linux platform) and chalk it up to lesson learned.
