So, where, exactly did I make any claims about security or power saving,
or anything at all beyond that I turned it off?

You guys are hallucinating.

And that's funny too.

Nobody cares whether you enable Bluetooth. People do care if you spread
misinformation about why you do it though. It's a simple distinction.

You may not have but others certainly did - hence this thread.

Good luck with that.

So to recap:

1. Other people have a discussion about Bluetooth.
2. You butt in asking why we are having this discussion.
3. You dislike the answer, so you sling insults.

Nice try, but troll failure.

Good luck with that.

Hallucinating again.

I started this thread, remarking that the iOS 8.2 update left my
Bluetooth enabled.

All the rest is on you and your little friends.

and it was pointed out to you that was *intentional*. it should be *on*.

bluetooth on is *required* for a significant amount of functionality
and having it on has zero downside and having it off has a huge
downside.

You don't own this thread. Others have and will participate, whether you
like it or not. And we will discuss aspects of this topic that may not
pertain directly to you. The world doesn't revolve around little, old you.

the other person mentioned security.

what are *your* reasons?

other than security or power saving, what possible reason could there
be to turn it off?

and why are you ignoring all of the benefits for leaving it on? do you
even know what they are?? (no).

It would be nice of you to say what a few of those benefits are (if there
are any) that I don't know I'm missing.

I won't speak for nospam, but I know several (but certainly not all)
have already been mentioned in this thread. I doubt anyone is interested
in repeating them, nor interested in making an exhaustive list for you.

his point is that several people have listed the various things
bluetooth is used for and you and others are refusing to acknowledge
all of the benefits, so why keep listing it over and over when it's
clear that you aren't interested in an answer.

nevertheless, a more exhaustive list is in another post.

it's been mentioned several times in this thread but here's a longer
list (and possibly not complete):

location services, airdrop, continuity, instant hotspot, game center,
multi-peer connectivity, ibeacon, bluetooth le devices and applewatch.

the watch doesn't affect anyone *yet* but it will for some.

the point is that bluetooth is *way* more than for just a keyboard or
headset and is used in all sorts of ways that people don't realize and
*without* needing to explicitly pair to another device.

For me, I don't use those. Isn't cellular also used for locations? That
is enabled manually (caps suck) when not on wifi.
