So, I guess, it is as off as it can be. You weren't clear, so I wonder: Did you simply press the sleep/wake button on the iPad to make it go to sleep, or did you: (a) hold down the button until you saw "slide to power off" on the screen, then (b) slide to power it off? > Now, I turn the iPad back on, and type into Safari "Amazon". > > It goes right back to the Amazon site, and has still maintained my > sign-in from my last visit ! As others have mentioned, Amazon stores cookies in your web browser to keep you logged in if you don't specifically log out on the Amazon site. Individual web browsers have settings that let you control which cookies to allow. This naturally means one web browser may behave differently than another in this respect. You can control the way Safari for iOS stores cookies by visiting the Settings > Safari > Block Cookies setting. > This means that if I lose the iPad, anyone has, apparently, the means > of just ordering anything using my CreditCard that appears during the > Amazon signout procedure. Is your iPad password protected so that you must enter a pin/password whenever you wake it? If not, anyone with physical access to your iPad can easily access anything on your iPad. Bad idea. To fix this, go to Settings > General > Passcode Lock, and set it up to lock the iPad with a ping or password to access it. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter.
