#59136 — Android-x86-8.1 Kernel Panic

I realize that this is not the best NG for asking my question but since
I got no answer on https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/android-x86,
I've decided to give it a try...

I recently installed android-x86_64-8.1-rc2 in its own partition
(/dev/sda9) on my PC. I downloaded it from:
http://www.android-x86.org/download

The installation went just fine, but I get the following error message
when I try to launch Android 8.1 from GRUB2:

VFS: Could not find a valid V7 on ram0
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS : unable to mount root fs on
     unknown-block(1,0)

If anybody here is running Android 8.1 on their PC, has run into the
same problem and solved it, I'd be interested in knowing how.

Sorry, I was not even aware that Android could be installed on a
computer. I have installed it on a virtual machine only.
