Hello everyone ... here's a curious problem that drives me bananas ...

Both I and my friend have a
Samsung Galaxy Golden gt-i9235 - this is a flip phone (folder) running
Android 4.2.2 jelly beans.

We both have more or less the same apps installed, the only thing that
really differs are the SIM cards i.e. the mobile network providers.

However ... the phone of my friend has excellent battery life - if not in
use, with mobile data turned off and just in standby for awaiting gsm calls,
the battery consumption is about 10% in 24 hours!!

On my phone, sometimes i get exaxtly this same nice battery life,
but then the phone goes into some mode where battery drains about 25% in 12
hours.
And in the settings ---> battery, it does not show anything special ...
screen, and "device on standby" show up at the top which appears ok.

I know there are so many threads and idears of what can be done about
battery consumption but here 2 phones are identical.

Does anyone have a conclusion of what i might try or might be looking for to
know where to start?

greetings

I usually use Better Battery Stats to try and see what's sucking the
battery dry. Worth a try but it isn't that easy to interpret the
results.

Unfortunately the problem re-appears.

2 identical phones Samsung GT-i9235
Same Build, Same Baseband, same firmware, same Android version
(4.2.2.)

One has perfect battery life, the other sometimes has good battery
life,
and then suddenly drains up to 5% per hour for no reason.

The only "battery APP" i installed was WakelockDetector and this shows
that the phones, when sitting on the desk, are 99% in deep sleep mode
and there appear only a few wakelocks that seem perfectly normal.

Only real difference are the SIM providers, and of course google +
samsung accounts and certainly the phones cannot be *fully* identical,
i also took the SIM card out of the affected phone and the draining
will also appear.

Certainly it could be a hardware problem but i still don't really thik
so.

Yep i know the net is full of battery problems, hints, solutions and
much info is just not worth anything, jpwever o wpmder of sp,epme
,ogjt stoöö jave am odea what could possibly be the cause.

Summary:

Phone 1 :
Battery always good.
Drain in standby is about 10% per 24 hours!! With WiFi (and WhatsAPP)
on, and occasional use.
The phone is not rebooted for weeks, APPs are switched on, used, then
ended (in the normal way, no task killers and other useless methods).
The phone is ALWAYS good and really only drains battery when in use.

Phone 2:
Battery life is *sometimes* good.
Same user habits.
In most cases ... after switching the phone on, battery is ok for a
few hours and then starts draining "like hell" 4% or more per hour.
Nothing is in use, and WakelockDetector says it is 99% in deep sleep.

Rebooting *sometimes* helps but sometimes phone continues draining.

As i said, only real difference are the sim cards.
The one in the "good" phone allows switching between LTE / WCDMA / GSM
(although LTE is never used)

and the SIM card in the "bad phone" will only make selection possible
between WCDMA / GSM.

However i don't think this is the cause.

greetings

When that happens, does your phone get warmer than his?

When this happens to me, I usually find it's because I am in an area with
marginal signal. Even with data switched off, I believe the phone still
needs to keep in regular touch with the base station, and if the signal
is poor, it will turn up its transmit power to make itself heard. This
will drain the battery faster.

Cheers

Thanks, i already suspected this, but it will also happen in flight mode.
Will give better battery stats a try, however it's anoying because as stated
exactly the same phone with my friend,
and she often leaves apps running, does not disable BT etc. and battery life
is still good, so it must be something else...

cheers

The thing that increased the battery life of my GT-I9305 was removing
the games that my grandsons had installed on it. I was amazed that
the games consume power even when they aren't being played.
