As someone else postulated. that Wi-Fi percentage might be from some 
background app just trying to use Wi-Fi which isn't there.

Also, I've installed some apps on my Samsung that say that they prevent 
it from going into maximum power savings mode. But with the Note 9 that 
battery is so large that I don't worry much about power savings.

As an aside, I used Page Plus many moons ago. But for low-usage, on 
Verizon's network, Red Pocket is now a much better deal, $2.50 per month 
for 200 Talk, 1000 Text, 200MB data

and 5¢/MB of data, it's no bargain. However Page Plus does allow, 
theoretically, off-network roaming at extra cost (29¢/minute) not sure 
if that's real or not since they were purchased by Tracfone. At one 
time, when I had Page Plus, I would often roam onto a small CDMA carrier 
in central California, and have to pay extra, but then Verizon bought 
them out.

I checked it out. The $2.50 plan will not work with my phone/Verizon. 
Plans that would deliver less than my pageplus/Verizon service.

Ah, my mistake. The $2.50 plan won't work anymore on Verizon. I had that 
plan before they removed Verizon as an option. Sorry about that.

Now I guess that the cheapest Verizon-compatible Red Pocket Plan is $5

I have a Google Docs document that I've shared with a lot of people that 
details the sub-$10 plans available on the AT&T and Verizon networks.

There are actually two MVNOs that use AT&T that don't have any monthly 
minimum charge but Page Plus is the least expensive Verizon MVNO unless 
I've missed one.

I get by right now with $10 every 4 months. I have a lot of minutes 
carried over. If I ever need more, I will buy the $80/yr plan that adds 
1666 minutes, but that won't be soon.

I was a big fan of Page Plus. I had four accounts at one point, and I 
sent a lot of new customers to them, especially for kids' phones (back 
in the pre-smart-phone days). It was a better deal that Tracfone and you 
were guaranteed Verizon service.

The annoyance of the Page Plus 120 day plans is that you absolutely have 
to remember to renew at 120 days or you lose your accumulated balance. 
They don't have auto-renewal every 120 days for pay-as-you-go, only 
every month, though you can sign up for monthly auto-renewal with a 
future start date then remove and restart it for a date 120 days later.

I suspect that the report regarding battery usage is not accurate. Is 
there a separate line item for location services (GPS) which is always on?

Is the battery life a problem? An S5 has to be six years old or so and 
Li-Ion batteries will have lost a lot of capacity in six years.

I cannot find a battery usage for GPS or Location.

I try to minimize battery usage so the charge and the battery usage are 
minimum. Whatever I do, I keep having to stop apps that suddenly start 
gulping power. I have loaded only a few apps - google maps (offline), 
Firefox, OneBusAway, SkiTracks, VolumeLocker, and currently have them 
all stopped from the Application Manager.

I disable GPS except for occasional brief periods. I don't know how much 
that affects the total battery usage of the GPS on this phone, but it 
does make a significant difference.

I finally found a resource for turning off the WiFi. No mah for wifi in 
24 hours. It involves turning off scanning and turning airplane mode on 
and off.
