A friend is having a problem opening mp3 files off the web on her android phone. She does everything right, but Chrome just comes up with a message saying "cannot open file" (or something very similar). I've tried exactly the same on a simple tablet (my hudl), and all works as it should, and I get its internal player. The files are being obtained from my choir's website which I manage, and AFAIK are kosher mp3 files. I don't know nearly enough about Android to offer her useful advice. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be please, and a good fix? Thanks. (Sorry, I don't know the version she has, or even what make of phone). -- Mike Scott Harlow, England

My first approach would be to try a different browser, e.g. Brave or Firefox. -p

Thanks. If it were my phone, I'd do just that. Unfortunately, this is more of an acquaintance than a friend, and one who's not a techie either. I'm not really in a position to "do" anything to the phone. The mp3's in question are my own, on our choir rehearsal material webpage, and she said she couldn't access them. I checked she was looking at the right files. Either her phone is mis-configured (I'm assuming android should be able to play mp3's out of the box) or the mp3's themselves are "odd" in some way (but they play elsewhere) I do have the luxury of being able to just walk away from the problem. I'd rather offer more help though! -- Mike Scott Harlow, England
