Have you ever tried these ENCRYPTION settings in Android 4.3?
What happens when I encrypt device, encrypt SD card, or lock SIM card?

I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII with the Nova free launcher, which has the
above encryption settings available to me.

In the past, I have been burned by full encryption (e.g., Ubuntu, where the
OS chewed up my encryption key!) so before I test this out, I'd like to ask
for advice from those who have turned these features on.

That screenshot came from Android 4.3 -> Settings > More > Security >
  a. Encrypt Device
  b. Encrypt External SD Card
  c. Set up SIM card lock

Have you ever tried these ENCRYPTION settings in Android 4.3?
How well do they work?
What do you recommend?

As far as I know, c. is just whether you want the phone to ask for the
SIM card pin code when you unlock it. With my telco at least the option
seems to be on by default for new SIM cards. I just got a new smaller
SIM card for my new phone and it was asking for the PIN code.

Haven't used Android 4.3 in a while though.
