That's what I said, though you interpreted my words otherwise. If I
recall correctly they've modified some filesystem bits to emasculate the
underlying linux support for filesystems other than fat32. So what if
their "operating system" is a java/api layer on top of the linux kernel
and core-command set, all that means is that they made use of some code
whose purpose is to be used, and decided to call a large application an
operating-system. Marketing people take poetic license if it'll
increase their commissions.

Android Studio provides a C-language interface for developing apps (they
try to discourage its use), but people who haven't downloaded Android
Studio and read at least some of the doc might be unlikely to know that.
Porting anything besides C or Java will be more work than porting C or
Java, how "involved" it might be depends on more than the name of the
language.

In other words, proprietary source code combined with undocumented
hardware. Whatever, I have file-transfer methods galore, if airdrop
never works on linux or Android it won't be me suffering for it because
I don't own Apple stock.

You should consider going into politics, I think you'd be quite good at it.

that's not what you said at all.

tweak means a minor change. android is *not* a minor tweak to linux.
it's a whole new operating system that happens to be built on top of a
linux core (which could even be replaced).

it's much more than a 'so what'.

the language isn't the issue. it's the apis.

it's not my opinion.

it's the opinion of the entire industry.

linux has a low single digit marketshare on the desktop because there
is very little software available for linux and what is available is
mostly crap.

people pay money for apps such as photoshop when free options such as
the gimp exist. the reason is because the gimp is garbage. it's not
even worth free.

repeat for other apps, including lightroom, avid, final cut, and much
more.

it ain't me who is bringing up religion.

the fact is that people are more productive and experience fewer
problems with macs than with other platforms.

in other words, you want to settle for the status quo and not advance
technology.

that's one reason why linux is stuck in the past.

nobody said anything about blocking other file transfer methods and the
stock comment is completely irrelevant.

definitely not because i don't play games. i call it like it is.

the fact is that it's very easy to transfer files to/from ios devices.

You are such a poor communicator that it strains the limits of
credibility. I know what I said: you only know what you chose to
interpret my words to mean. Don't argue with me about what I fucking said.

We have different meanings for "tweak". I'm used to writing operating
system internals and toolchains, you're apparently not.

We'll need to not discuss things of this sort, it's costing me time I
prefer not to waste.

i'm used to using the proper meanings of words. you're obviously not.

<http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tweak>
: to change (something) slightly in order to improve it : to make
 small adjustments to (something)

android is not a slight change or adjustment to linux. far from it.

android is a totally new operating system built on top of a linux core.
and the apis are totally different. linux apps can't run on a device
running android and android apps can't run on a device running linux
(other than via an android virtual machine, and even then, not really).

if you're going to call android a tweak to linux, then ios is a tweak
to bsd.

> We'll need to not discuss things of this sort, it's costing me time I

wise choice, as you're completely wrong.

Seems silly. Everyone including little, old you is an asshole from time

Wrong. I never claimed you insulted anyone; so that's your own

You might ask other Apple folks if they've ever used anything else; the
ones I've met and asked, they just looked dumbfounded and said they had
not. The obvious conclusion is that they simply don't know.

i use macs, windows and unix systems and have no problems whatsoever
interoperating with any of them.

any obstacles are of your own making.

while not everything is open source, quite a bit is.

it's very easy.

set up a computer (mac or win) with automatic backups to the storage of
your choice. set up itunes to wirelessly back up ios devices and leave
it running.

done.

any time you plug in an ios device to recharge, it'll wirelessly
sync/backup automatically without anything more than plugging it in, or
you can initiate a backup at any time from the device or the computer.

if you prefer connecting via usb, that will also work. you can also set
it up to not auto-sync as well.

Thank you for that link, I was aware that Apple had released some things

Oops, got no mac and no win. We gots us some iOS devices and some

Sorry, Apple has received its monetary contribution, and the purchased
devices are the ones to be used.

btw, webkit is used by almost all of apple's competitors, including
nokia (before microsoft bought them), blackberry and android (although
google forked their own a few years ago, now called blink).

microsoft has their own web engine so they don't use it.

try running itunes in wine or a vm.

don't blame apple for the limitations of linux.

If I actually listened to people like you I'd have returned my iPad
shortly after purchasing it and never bought an iPhone.

It's clear you haven't passed 3rd-grade English spelling yet.

Heh heh ... that's all you can say?
That means you don't even know the most basic things about iOS.

NONE of those apps work outside the walled garden.
Not one.

You fell for it.
Nospam fell for it.
And now, Michael Eyd fell for it.

Your lack of knowledge about iOS is impressive.

Apparently you're as disillusioned as nospam is.

None of them, as far as I know, work for non-Apple devices without
resorting to jailbreaking.
https://www.iskysoft.com/phone-transfer/transfer-iphone-files-via-bluetooth.html

So, as long as you're inside the walled garden, they "can" work.
Outside the walled garden, they are as useful as broken stones.

You are sadly misinformed and tricked (like nospam always is) by the hollow
words.

That line alone shows how little (extremely close to nothing, actually)
you know.

Bullshit. Actually, even the link *YOU* posted three lines higher shows
that you're lying!

You're a boring, know-nothing, self-inflated dork, trying to troll here.

Play with whom you want, I won't take part any more as this is not a
discussion, you're just repeating over and over again the same
(clueless, boring and altogether wrong) claims.

Michael

:)

Very adult like.

At least I *understand* why you act this way now.

apparently not enough.

the moto g3 doesn't come anywhere close to an iphone 6s nor a samsung
galaxy s6, s7, note 5 or other similarly priced phones.

the g3 is a cheap phone with cheap specs. simple as that.

a moto g3, which is a low end budget phone that lacks all sorts of
stuff that the iphone has.

lower specs = lower prices. simple concept.

when iphones are compared with similar phones, such as a galaxy s7 or a
note 5, prices are roughly the same.
