Let's focus on creating value that nobody else has ever seen, Carlos.
Below is an early pass at solving the problem inherent in this thread.

 Newsgroups: comp.mobile.android,alt.comp.microsoft.windows,alt.comp.os.windows-10
Subject: PSA: How to archive your EXACT homescreen(s) apps to Windows for perfect cross-platform backup/restore sans the net
 Date: Fri, 14 Aug 2026 09:57:21 -0800
 Message-ID: <115nktv$15du$1@nnrp.usenet.blueworldhosting.com>

Here is a snippet of what the resulting text file looks like.
The goal will be to turn it into a hierarchy creation tool on the sd card.

I don't have sd storage, and I'm not paying anything. This one counter
example means the above statement is false.

Thing is, though, that very often we argue/discuss about things without
being sufficiently precise to apply pure logic - like the statement above.

Sometimes you just need to stand back and ask yourself is it worth
all the time and typing - for what, proving your better than others?
It is pretty boring to watch - def. not a popcorn moment

It may depend on the brand/model phone, but for our Samsung Galaxy A51
phones, it's not an extra hole. It's the same hole/tray as for the
(dual) SIMs.

I think most phones still have a SIM tray, so unless a phone is
eSIM-only, it's probably not an extra hole.

Are you crazy!? You are *paying* for storage!? What about

I am (actually was) paying for Usenet access. How stupid is *that*!?

Hi Frank,

My suggestion is you take a basic course in logic, Frank.
Because your argument sd storage is more expensive is ridiculous, Frank.

I get it you're desperate to find something (anything!) to insult me on,
but every time you try to insult me, you just prove that it's baseless.

Do you have any idea how much 128GB or 256GB of sd storage costs nowadays?
No?

Seriously?
You have absolutely no idea at all how much sd storage costs, Frank?

If you have no idea how much sd cards cost, then every argument you make in
your desperation to insult me, is absurd, Frank. You have no idea of costs.

The fact is 128GB or 256GB of internal storage costs 'something'.
But you have no idea how much it costs. That's obvious by what you wrote.

Likewise, 128GB or 256GB of forever cloud storage also costs 'something'.
And yet, again and again you prove you have no idea what that costs.

You have no idea what *anything* costs, Frank.

And yet, your claim that sd storage is more expensive than those is absurd,
which, after all, is your argument, Frank... which is simply absurd.

Next time you're desperate to insult me Frank, at least don't propose your
utterly absurd argument that sd store is more expensive than the others.

I never said any such thing. That's *your* kind of 'logic', claiming

Hi Frank,

First off, if you're going to try to insult me, at least own the common
courtesy to use adequate grammar, as it's insulting to me that you can't
even garner a third or fourth grade grasp of grammatical basics.

Every time you write in this newsgroup, your lack of education shows
itself, so all I ask is you run your attempts through a grammar checker.

You've never once in your entire life ever found any of my arguments to be
illogical because I happen to own a grasp that you can't possibly fathom.

In your desperation to attempt to insult me, I ask only that you look up
the costs of the following types of common storage for Android phones.

1. Cost of adding 256GB to a 64GB phone like my Samsung Galaxy is
(where, let's be clear, I easily store over a thousand packages)

2. Cost of buying 256GB of forever storage on the cloud (plus Internet).

3. Cost of buying a phone larger than 64GB of internal storage
that has at least 256GB of internal storage.

I realize you have no idea what those costs are, but allow me to state that
when/if you ever do begin to obtain even an inkling of the costs, you'll
find out that the difference in costs are vast.

That you don't know that, and yet you still are desperate to try to insult
me, is what I am responding to, Frank.

At least if you're desperate to insult me, Frank, have your facts known.

Here's my current python script which needs tweaking, where the overall

hierarchy as those app icon shortcuts are stored on our homescreen(s).

It's better for us to spend our energy improving that script than

Ok. But just a heads' up that I'm gonna work on creating functionality that
you've never seen in your life, which I've never seen in my life too.

It's already working, but of course, there's a lot of debugging necessary.
The good news is it's a better use of my time than arguing about sd cards.

Especially since it will duplicate the entire Android setup on the sdcard!

Hopefully with all that work you're also posting elsewhere. I'm happy with

Well, I love to be efficient on Android, where I'm at version 2.1 currently
(which is 21 versions plus another dozen of earlier-in-the-day attempts).

Yes. I posted it to XDA Developers, but I'm so far ahead of most people in
terms of efficient backup & restore that I don't expect many to test it.

I'm not on Usenet for entertainment. I'm here to do things nobody else can
do, and to contribute to the newsgroup in ways that nobody else can do.

So, instead of arguing endlessly about why sd cards do things that people
simply don't understand, at least I wrote some code that people can use!

The code runs on Windows, but there's nothing stopping it from running on
any desktop, and, interestingly, it can run on Android if I wanted it to.

It takes every pane of your homescreen (e.g., pane 0, pane 1, pane 2, etc.,
and then it takes every folder on that pane (e.g., archivers, browsers,
calendars, databases, editors, finance, games, etc.) and then it puts into
those folders every package that was found in those folders, and every APK
for that package, with the exact subversion listed in the folder name.

Then when it's all done, it creates a Windows batch script which we can use
to re-create the exact folder hierarchy, with the exact APK subversions.

In my humble opinion, this is functionality that exists nowhere else on
earth, and as such, is a much better use of my time than endlessly arguing
with people who don't understand what an sdcard is, which gets us nowhere.

YMMV. I find the "arguments" interesting.

I'm looking at Windows toys again. Amazon can have one on my doorstep in a
 few hours. Amazing.

But of course you're in control. No response keeps you out of arguments...

On topic: I just tried to post this with my Lenovo Tab One Android tablet
using PhoNews and it now refuses to post at all. Hopefully it still works
on this Chromebook. Why don't you write a good Android Usenet app. Now that
 I need...

You do know that I wrote my own Usenet newsreader, do you not?

It started on Centos, with help from Marek Novotny (RIP).

Then I kludged it over to Windows where it's been ever since.

Ah. Well on Windows I always used Thunderbird. I preferred an older version
so I could turn off the updates...

Regarding Thunderbird, many (many!) years ago, I tried the TB newsreader.
I felt it treated Usenet too much like email, so I ditched it pronto.

It may be better now for all I know, but if it doesn't bring up gvim
on Windows, and/or if it doesn't allow me to fudge headers, then it's crap.

On Android, K9 got taken over by the TB team, as I recall, but I don't
think that they added a newsreader capability, but I've not looked lately.

YMMV

My favorite Android newsreader was Groundhog. I still used it for reading
Usenet until just a few days ago When Amazon updated my Fire tablet and
completely broke it. By Groundhog, it was a fun journey over the years
 (sniff)...
