My 10-YO son learned to program by fixing the games in this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Basic-Computer-Digital-Equipment-Corporation/dp/999381038X

I wonder if he still has it...

If he does, he should sell it while it's still so valuable: Amazon lists...

Got it thanks. Fascinating. And that answers my question as to the
Kindle edition cost: Free...

Many of them didn't work, which seems really slipshod. Who publishes
something with errors a 10-YO with no computer experience can find?

Lots of simple typos. First one I spotted, right in the TOC, item ORBIT:

> Destroy an orbiting germ-laiden enemy spaceship

Really? "laiden"? And even before that (tho' maybe it's a matter of taste):

> Play acey-ducey ...

To me it was always acey-deucey :-) . The "two" card is a deuce. "Duce"
refers to Mussolini ("il Duce", the duke, phon.; "ill DOO-tshay").

Page 12 shows an author as located in Prairie View, Illinois.
On page 13, in the program listing, that's PRAIRE YIEW, ILL

Poor proofing? Or poor OCR in/after the scanning to PDF? Or both?

Anyway, typos like those can play havoc with program routines :-) .

Kudos to your son for wrangling with them! Cheers, -- tlvp

Back when I used to manually copy a 3 page (or more) small type Basic
program out of a computer magazine I always ended up with many typos.
When first run (most of the time) it would tell me which line the
error was on so that part was relatively easy. However many times the
typos actually made sense to the computer which sent the program in
odd directions. Those were the hard ones.

I don't have/use a "smart" phone, just the old fashioned dumb phone.
It looks to me that the update process has been changed with lolliipop.
I have to do more in approving(?) or/and select update all for stuff
that used to be auto-updated; will have to pay attention more on what
will be updated; the Galaxy Tab Pro still don't need to select update
when getting the notification as the notification usually say that such
and such got updated.

Looks like I need to pay attention to the differences as both tablets
have the same apps... Will need to pay attention to what happens
on the ASUS MemoPad that I use as a universal remote controller; the
ASUS does require the OK to update all even if the apps were ASUS
bloatware!

Guess I may not be too anxious to get Android 5.x onto the Galaxy Tab
Pro.
