Here The Project page: https://sourceforge.net/projects/nereo/

Here the last version:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/nereo/files/1.3_stable/

If you’re interested, try it thoroughly. Read the files in the folder
carefully before posting any issues (bugs).
Note: from version 1.2.11 to 1.3 I made a lot of internal
implementations, especially related to security. Just read the
readme_en.txt file to understand where I focused the latest
impovements.

Enjoy! Usenet Still Lives

I have been following the thread in it.tlc.cellulari.android with the
help of DeepL. You have been doing a good job of updating Piao Hong.

Perhaps I have not remembered correctly, but I believe that when Alfio
introduced his updated version of Piao Hong (M17), it was necessary to
uninstall Piao Hong if it was being used before installing M17.

Is that also the case with NeReO 1.3?

Nope!
NeReO and Alfio's MOD17 are two completely different projects.
I only used Piao Hong's NR (and Alfio's MOD) as a starting point, but
all of NeReO's code is written from scratch, and if you want, the two
NRs can coexist without any issues.

I, for one, congratulate the OP for trying to solve this age-old problem.

Having written my own newsreader, I appreciate the OP for doing so and for
making it available to all Android users, for free, sans advertisements.

Muntashirakon AM says NeReO <org.openusenet.reader> version 1.1 (41) has
 a. No trackers
 b. No advertisement SDKs
 c. One Activity
    org.openusenet.reader.ui.MainActivity
 d. One Service
    androidx.room.MultiInstanceInvalidationService
 e. One Receiver
    androidx.profileinstaller.ProfileInstallReceiver
 f. One Provider
    org.openusenet.reader.androidx-startup
      androidx.startup.InitializationProvider
 g. Shared libs
    libandroidx.graphics.pth.so (4 versions)
 h. Permissions
    android.permission.DUMP
    org.openusenet.reader.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION
 i. Uses permissions
    android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
    android.permission.INTERNET
    org.openusenet.reader.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION

I'm not familiar with that 3rd permission but the others are reasonable.

First of all, Thank you for Your compliments. ;)
I wrote this application mainly for myself, because Alfio’s Mod.17
(formerly Piao Hong NR) didn't fully meet my needs.
So, since it all started as something just for my own use, I decided to
avoid any form of payment and/or advertising.
Now I’m glad to share this work with the Usenet community.
Oh, I almost forgot… I didn't write a single line of code! All the
"dirty work" was done by Claude (AI).
Also Source Code is hosted on SourceForge, if anyone would improve by
himself this apk, in future.

Enjoy!

Not necessarily, if you (all) don't care, I'll skip future updates.

Sorry if this bothers you, but that's not my approach.
A new release — even a minor one — deserves a new thread, IMHO.

BTW, I've posted about NeReO roughly 9 times in the last month.
My first post here was on Thu, 10 Sep 2026 10:25:49.

So... I'm sorry if my development is a little too fast for you!
LOL ;)

IMHO it's not a bad idea to post minor updates in the same thread.

For example:

1.3.0
	1.3.1
	1.3.2
	...
1.4.0
	1.4.1
	...

I don't mind either way.

OP tags his postings with

it would be very easy to create a kill filter for this.
