On Wed, 13 Jan 2021 04:16:25 +1100, Rod Speed wrote: > It doesn┤ belong to apple. They even encrypt the navigation > stuff so even apple doesn┤ know where you have been. Is this Rod Speed troll just claiming fact-free utter bullshit (again)? o Or does it have a cite for Google Maps special encryption on iOS devices? While this Rod Speed (aka %% and a host of other nyms) is a well known worthless piece of shit troll who never substantiates his claims... It would be interesting to see what, if any, encryption Apple performs on a Google Maps navigation (which is what most people, I presume, use). o <https://duckduckgo.com/?q=apple+encrytion+google+maps+location+data> Running the obligatory search above that the troll Rod Speed didn't run (Why? Because it's a POS troll, that's why); this is the first hit: Dated January 5th, 2021 o Google Hasn't Updated Its iOS Apps Since the Day Before Apple's New Privacy Labels Requirement <https://www.macrumors.com/2021/01/05/google-hasnt-updated-ios-apps-since-privacy-labels/> "Fast Company makes the reasonable assumption that Google might be trying to delay revealing its privacy label information" That doesn't confirm the troll's claim, and neither do these hits, which were the closest to the topic that initial search results found: o How to Find Your Location History in Google Maps or iPhone <https://www.lifewire.com/location-history-google-maps-iphone-1683392> Nothing there about any special Apple encryption of nav data. Next hit... o How to stop (or limit) Google Maps from tracking your location <https://www.wired.co.uk/article/google-maps-privacy> "If you're using an iPhone, things are pretty similar." Nothing special about nav encryption for Google Maps on the iPhone yet. o Moving to the next hit... which is from the mother lode herself... o Location Services & Privacy <https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207056> "If Location Services is on, your iPhone will periodically send the geo-tagged locations of nearby Wi-Fi hotspots and cell towers... in an anonymous and encrypted form to Apple" Hmmmm... that's a bad thing for privacy... so that sucks, for sure. o But wait, there's more... "Routing and Traffic: While you are in transit (for example, walking or driving), your iPhone will periodically send GPS data, travel speed, and barometric pressure information in an anonymous and encrypted form to Apple, to be used for augmenting crowd-sourced road traffic and atmospheric correction databases." As before, that sucks, only not as bad as if it wasn't encrypted. o But it still sucks... let's see... there's more... "Popular Near Me: Your iPhone will periodically send locations of where and when you have purchased or used apps in an anonymous and encrypted form to Apple, to improve a crowd-sourced database that may be used to offer geographically relevant apps and other Apple products and services." That really sucks in terms of privacy... like why does it do that anyway? o But wait, there's more... "Significant Locations: Your iPhone and iCloud connected devices will keep track of places you have recently been, as well as how often and when you visited them, in order to learn places that are significant to you. This data is end-to-end encrypted and cannot be read by Apple. It is used to provide you with personalized services, such as predictive traffic routing, and to build better Memories in Photos." Again, that sucks... in terms of privacy. o Yeah, sure, it's encrypted... but it shouldn't even be happening (IMHO). -- Does anyone have a better cite for Google Maps special encryption on iOS devices that wouldn't be on AnNdroid devices when using Google Maps?

Thanks for that completely superfluous proof that you have never ever had a fucking clue. > Based on the cites I cited, e.g., > o Location Services & Privacy > <https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207056> More utterly mindless shit from you.

I hear my technology overlord... and obey... At least google gives us
something useful in exchange for our souls.
I found out about ANOTHER permission today when my Ski Tracks wouldn't
work on the Pixel 2. Turns out it needs access to the GPS all the time
because it works in the background blablabla. So now I don't know how
many runs I did or how fast I went or the exact point on the map where I
fell when I discovered just how much damage being unable to go to the
gym for a year has caused.
I can't figure out how to do 480-pound leg presses at home. Any ideas?
I have to do heavy weights with few reps. Don't ask why, just accept :-(

If one can make a virtual tour of the world https://www.wxyz.com/rebound/taking-a-virtual-tour-of-the-world-during-the-covid-19-pandemic and even live a virtual life https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/living-virtual-lives-during-covid-and-beyond/ar-BB18iLGv then certainly one must be able to do virtual exercises. :-) -- Cheers, John B.
