Arlen Holder alias Harry Newton alias Ultred Magnusen is in my killfile 
anyway.
Likewise no and nospam cannot really be taken serious and also join 
Arlen Holder.
Thanks to this measure the group is very peaceful and unortunately a bit

self-important twits and aggressive contrarians to keep many a pointless 
thread going ad infinitum. You are right, though, that NNTP is dying but I 
usually put it down to many users being too lazy to use it properly and the 
amount of effort needed to obtain access as many (most?) ISPs drop 'free' 
newsgroup access.

Recently it seems that nearly the entire day's worth of posts here 
involved insults.  I think there's a tipping point, I just don't know 
where it is.  It's wanton destruction, and I hate it.  I've participated 
in flame wars, but not for at least a decade, and I wish that I hadn't. 
  Some bait is just too tasty to pass up, though...

I find that filtering out and automatically deleting anything from
Google Groups and anything cross-posted reduces the signal to noise
ratio substantially. Sadly, I still need a Bozo file - but it's not too
long.

I got a question on a drivers license test wrong when I went to college 
in Massachusetts. The question was "True or False - Fatigue reduces 
reaction time" My answer was "false". The official answer was "true". 
Their response was "That's what it says in the official list" and they

California's said that the safest place for a motorcycle to drive on the 
freeway was in the center of the lane -- where all the oil has dropped. 
  Everybody knows you drive in the clean areas, not the oily ones.  I 
got that one wrong, of course, but there's never anybody to argue with.

The criteria is possibly that ridding on the middle they force cars to
overtake on the other lane. I have seen often riders or bicycle packs
doing that. Also the right most side of the road has more holes. Said by
a car driver ;-)

I once rode big motorcycles for a living. Trust me, you don't want to
ride in the center of the lane where the oil is. Oil is your enemy. And
I have the road rash to prove it...

drive/verb
     1.
     operate and control the direction and speed of a motor vehicle.

Since a motorcycle is a motor vehicle, DRIVE is also correct.

When two people are RIDING on a motorcycle only one is the passenger.
The other is the driver and is DRIVING the motorcycle.

But I agree the most common usage is to RIDE a motorcycle.
