They are in standard STM livery and no special signs. They wait at school to pickup kids and then drive to rejoin a normal bus route after which they make regular stops. (This would be high school kids who can walk home from a bus stop). It is possible that some areas are low on "official" school buses and have to lease normal buses to provide service until more yellow buses are acquired. The Yellow school buses have specil traffic rules (for instance, when one ins stopped, you can't pass it on left). So a non-yellow bus carrying kids would not be protecting kids who cross the street after getting off the bus.

On 3 Sep 2018 08:45:06 GMT, JF Mezei wrote: > I know that in Montréal, the STM (public transit) has "chartered" buses > that serve some schools. My point about the lack of free public school buses in California was that it supports my hypothesis that Californians aren't normal people. Would parents in any other state put up with having to drive their kids to school in the morning, and, far worse (in terms of schedule), then wait for school to let out so that they can pick them up in the middle of the day, every single day? The fact that this fact is common in California (at least in the Silicon Valley it is), means, to me, that Californians put up with bullshit from the government that, I posit, most adults in other states wouldn't put up with. > They are in standard STM livery and no special > signs. They wait at school to pickup kids and then drive to rejoin a > normal bus route after which they make regular stops. (This would be > high school kids who can walk home from a bus stop). Here, there are one or two high schools per town, where the "walk" to and from that high school could be ten or more miles - although they could arrange a much closer bus stop (which would be normal for any other state). But in all the Silicon Valley school districts I've lived in, they offer *zero* free public transportation for *any* normal child (K-12). As I said, special needs children are different because the federal government - I'm told - subsidizes their school-based transportation. If someone can find a California school district that provides free public school transportation, I'd love to know what school district that is. Note: In California, the "school district" is "gerrymandered" in so much as it doesn't follow the same borders as do the towns. They "somewhat" follow those borders in the Silicon Valley - but they're not at all the same as the town borders. (Why? I don't know why.) Do the town and school district borders line up in other states? > It is possible that some areas are low on "official" school buses and > have to lease normal buses to provide service until more yellow buses > are acquired. What really matters, since any one town may be culturally different than others, is what is the general trend. As far as I can tell, the general trend in California is to NOT provide free public school transportation for normal kids (K-12). If anyone knows of a school district in California that does provide free public school transportation for normal kids, let me know. *My main point is that Californians are different from normal people.* > The Yellow school buses have specil traffic rules (for instance, when > one ins stopped, you can't pass it on left). So a non-yellow bus > carrying kids would not be protecting kids who cross the street after > getting off the bus. Yes. I apologize if the color "yellow" became a hot issue when the only reason I used the word "yellow" was to signify the "typical" look of the typical free public school bus (which should be something that any parent in any other state would recognize instantly by its markings). The point is that I can't think of any other state where the parents would put up with this bullshit that the school district doesn't provide free public school bus transportation. Savageduck says that some school districts in California might actually provide that free yellow public school bus - but I don't know of any. Does anyone here know of a CA school district with free school buses?

Tell us all what erudite value you possess, YK? What's so sad about most of you Apple users is that you're so incredibly stupid that you think a childish joke that which Savageduck revels in is funny. You're _that_ stupid. I'm only average in intelligence and yet, I tower over almost all of you. The only ones who come close are David Empson, sms, and a few others. Sometimes Rod Speed shows intelligence. Even nospam, on extremely rare occasions exhibits traits of intelligence. Lewis? Never. Savageduck? It's beyond his comprehension. Jolly Roger? Impossible. (There's nobody dumber than Jolly Roger.) You YK? Show us your intelligence. Post something intelligent.
