I bought a bluetooth over-one-ear headset way last June, and I finally got it to work with the PC. I've tried a dozen times and every 3rd time I get one step closer (though now it only works with phone calls (there's a little green circle with a phone handset in it in the headset, headphones, and headset-microphone entries (in the Wound window. Right click on the speaker icon in the systray and it's either of the entries ending in "devices". But with the Blu phone runing Android 5 when it's ready to pair the phone gives me a 6-digit number. However there is no way I know to put the number into the headset!!! How do I do that? Now that I know the thing actually talks and plays, I want even more to get it to work, especially before I go on a trip early march. ...Back to the PC, even though it works, when I talk into it, I hear what I'm saying a full second later. I think this may be very confusing if I try to have a full conversation instead of just a test (where I use Skype to call my own phone so I can talk to a phone handset that is lying on the desk) Is a delay like this one-second delay normal? (When I talk into the desk phone instead, I hear that more quickly in the earpiece, and more importantly, I only hear it once, because I won't be in the same room as the other guy. But when I talk, I hear that, and then I hear it played back a second later. ) I read that Bluetooth has a 30 or 100 foot range but when I'm 12 feet behind the computer, with the Bluetooth :"dongle" plugged into the front, fidelity is terrible. This doesn't much matter because usually I will be right in frront of the PC but is it normal. But If these things are not normal, maybe I should buy a better, or more expensive, over one ear headset, although there's a pretty big jump from 30 to iirc 60 or 70. This one Share had good ratings, but any recommendations. Thanks.

And finally I recorded a lecture tonight, on the phone, using Sound Recorder, the built-in app, and I play it on the phone and it doesn't sound so good so I wanted to use Bluetooth to play it on the PC. Should I be able to do that? Can I make the phone like a wireless microphone for the PC? Now I realize that would take an hour. It was an .ogg file and I copied it to the PC with MyPhoneExplorer**, then emailed to to the friend who missed the lecture I recorded. The sound is fair but much better on the PC than the liltle phone speaker. VLC and I believe Real Player play .ogg files. **This is the sort of reason I got that app, and then I forgot how powerful it is.

I realize I totally misread your reply, but in my defense, that was because my original questoin was *how* to transfer it, but perhaps you didn't see that one, or the second one replaced the first in your attention. > >file transfer over bluetooth isn't fast, neither is a USB cable. > >if the phone is connected to wifi then you could push it to an app such >as dropbox, onedrive etc, then pull it down again on the PC, that will I saw onedrive, etc. but I didn't want to do that, for the reason you give below. I wasn't in a hurry so I think bluetooth and usb would have been fast enough but I ended up using MyPhoneExplorer, which went directly to my PC and worked great. >depend on your internet speed, if that's not fast (or you don't like the >idea of your recording being in the cloud) you could get a cifs/smb >client for the phone and copy it direct over wifi to a share on your PC > >Lots of ways to skin the cat. You can configure it without a PHD in geek. You turn it on/off with a click. It serves only the files you drag/drop into the list. You don't need any system permissions or passwords to upload/download files. You can run it wide open or with logins and passwords and restrictions on a per-user basis. You don't have to send your files into cloud storage. You don't have to give anybody your network credentials. You can access it from any device that has a web browser. Did I mention that one click will turn it off for the 99.999% of the time you don't need it? I started using it when newer versions of windows REFUSED to let me do network file transfers from an old Dell PDA. With no way to upgrade the security policies on the PDA, I needed a better solution. HFS was it. I quickly learned that it was WAY easier than trying to make some linux distros talk to a windows network, enter passwords, etc. I can work on my neighbor's computer without giving it full network access to mine. Got a browser and a network connection? You're good to go.

A single .exe file for use on a Windows box. Also: > It's light weight. > You can configure it without a PHD in geek. > You turn it on/off with a click. > It serves only the files you drag/drop into the list. ... [etc.] ... But it takes two to tango. And one of the partners must lead. So: 1) What's this help share files between? A Windows box and *what*? 2) What software does that partner need to have available? 3) For transferring files from that partner to the Win box, which device am I to be steering/driving from? 4) To transfer files *to* that partner *from* the Win box, which device am I to be steering/driving from? I look forward to incorporating your responses in far easier transfers of files between Windows and both assorted Android devices and a BB PlayBook. So thanks very much. Cheers, -- tlvp -- Avant de repondre, jeter la poubelle, SVP.

I think I once tried ipcamera, it's a remote camera with sound, but I can't find the phone I put it on.

That sounds like a good idea, if instead of the mike I can play a file that's already in the phone. Well, now that I think about it, that will take a full hour. If I just transferred the file wouldn't it take a lot less time? Yeah, I think so, so this doesn't fit my need afaict. Thanks anyhow. Solved: see last paragraph. I tried to transfer it tonight, and in the past when I plugged it into the PC via USB, a notification that I was charging it would show up, and tapping on that would take me to a page where I could set it to one or another kind of data transfer. But I've forgotten the 3 letter names for them***, and I can't find the page in Settings. ....Doing something else later**, I found that it was never USB connected because it seems I was using a power only cable. I knew about such things but I guess I was confused. I've mislaid the longer, data cable, but fortunately I bought another shorter double cable (one lead for power and the other for power and data) and when I plugged that in, it gave a Notivication -- Charge Only. Tapping on that brought me to the page USB Computer Connection, where I tried tapping Media Deive (MTP), it showed up in File Manager on the PC. ***MTP and PTP. When I tried to see what was inside, it wanted to know if I wanted to treat it as a USB drive or iirc a CD. I chose USB drive, and then it wanted to format something. That scared the hell out of me. What could I possibly format that woudl be good to do??? So I stopped. I also looked in File Manager, tapped on Share, and it had sharing by Bluetooth, so I did that, it said Sending File, but then after 15 seconds it said File not Sent. But no particular error message. (Later from the Notification I found the log and sit said "No connection" Bluetooth is running on the PC, only 8 inches away. Tried 10 times, no go. Eventually it downed on me to try MyPhoneExplorer. That has to be started in the PC and the phone and after that, somehow I brought up a phone screen with 3 methods to connect to the phone, Wifi, that was connected to my WAN Bluetooth, which it said was active, and USB cable, which it said was not connected, and that's when it dawned on me that I might have changed cables to power only. So I cahanged again and now I'm connected. But I was scared by t he offer to Format, so that will have to wait. (Maybe it was just formatting a virtual drive that would somehow be the phone. I don't think it was reformatting the phone's memory. ) SOLVED: But over the WAN, My PhoneExplorer was just great. Took about 30 seconds to copy 67 megs. Thanks again to whoever told me about this app. >or >"baby monitor"? >or >"ip camera"? >or >"surveillance monitor"? > >I think I once tried ipcamera, it's a remote camera with sound, >but I can't find the phone I put it on. These could come in handy for other things, like if I get a baby somewhere.

I had written the vendor twice back when I had Vista and it wanted drivers, but he didn't reply. Now the link doesn't work, so maybe he never got the emails. Then I made a very tactful question to the question section of the Amazon ad, and no one answered. Finally, after 7 months, I rated it as 2 stars but with a very tactful comment that maybe I don't know how to use it. And in the next day or two I got an email from the vendor asking if I would revise the review if a new one worked better. Absolutely, I replied (and I told him what's in the preceding two paragraphs.) He followed in 15 minutes with a code so I could get another one for free -- no reference to the rest of my email -- and it's coming in a few days. I hope it will work this time. (It did get good ratings for the most part) If not I'm springing for the Plantagenet or whatever that is called. I had taked the code entry place in Amazon to refer to Amazon itself, but now I realize it can take vendor-specific codes too.
