Lollipop 5.1.
Chrome won't update to the latest version, won't even download from
Google Play Store (err. 403).
I uninstalled all the updates, now Chrome (factory version) won't even
load (crashes when launching).
I've cleared all caches, restarted my phone three times, etc. no luck: I
can't use any service that require Chrome, like Google News, etc.

Thanks for your help, and I won't reboot my phone to factory default, I
have over 100 installed apps.
For the same effort, I'd rather trash the phone and buy a new one.

Solved: Corrupted files on my SD Card. I ran the tests on Windows, it
found and cleaned the mess.
Chrome updated and running again. :)

So presumably you had some apps moved off of primary storage (internal
memory) to the secondary storage (SD card). However, Chrome cannot be
moved from primary storage. The option to move it to the SD card is
disabled (well, it is in my Android 4.4.4 Kitkat). I can move Firefox
to the SD card but not Google Chrome.

What does Windows have to do with your Android smartphone?

He had a corrupted SD card and fixed it on his Windows PC?

Glad you fixed your phone.

If you haven't already, you might try the Google Play Newsstand app. I
like it better than Google News. YMMV.

BTW1 if you do use the app there are several newspapers that say "10
free articles" before you have to subscribe. I've found that if you hook
a mouse to your device you can use the scroll wheel to scroll as many
articles as you want. Course I only use that at home since I don't want
to carry a mouse around... ;)

BTW2 You can hook a standard USB mouse to many devices using an OTG (on
the go) adapter. Google for details, they're cheap.
