Almost everything on iOS is far harder than Android.

Just to open up a youtube video in Safari is more than a half-dozen steps
for heaven's sake!

Don't believe me?
Read this!
http://appletoolbox.com/2015/10/how-to-open-youtube-links-in-safari-instead-of-the-youtube-app-in-ios/

1-Type the Youtube URL into the Safari address bar
2-Then, press and hold the YouTube link
3-Wait until you see a pop-up message asking you to copy.
4-Select Copy to copy the link.
5-Launch a new Safari Tab.
6-Paste the previously copied Youtube URL into the Safari address bar.
7-Now you need to replace replace www with m
(https://www.youtube.com/watch? >> https://m.youtube.com/watch?).
8-Then tap Go.
9-Finally, after all these steps, iOS Safari will play a youtube video!

And that's is only the number one suggestion by Apple Toolbox.
The rest are worse.

nospam, you're as much to blame as Aardvarks; you just keep feeding the
troll. Look at what you posted:

 > easily.

 > that's because you're inept.

 > nonsense.

Pointless. We know that Aardvarks seizes on any opportunity to say that
Android is "better" than iOS. We know that you can't simply ignore him,
you must defend Apple, or show you're somehow better than the troll, or
whatever you think you're doing by posting useless garbage in
conversation with a known (but not always recognized) nymshifting troll.

You two make a pretty pair. He's trying to do something mortally
stupid, and you're right there in the mud with him.

IMO.

You are a cranky idiot.

What is so "mortally stupid" about wanting to listen to the following
documentary audio tracks on either iOS or Android at night with the screen
off?

What's mortally stupid is that you can't sleep without a lullaby.

Sometimes you say smart stuff.

I'm not sure *what* to call you since you think listening to documentaries

What do *you* listen to that is on youtube?

You obviously don't know the difference between a documentary and a
lullaby. When you need rest, lay down and sleep, stupe.

Took me less than 30 seconds to find the answer with Google. Wee bit of
a workaround, but so quick amd simple :-)

Odd how ignorant and useless a self professed 'power user' is, eh? :-D

Yep, that too is extremely easy to workaround. Took me less than another
30 seconds to google (though I already knew the answer simply from my
apparently 'non-power user' experimentation) :-)

It's really quite sad and pathetic how our poor resident troll is still
trying and failing to attack iOS, yet only reconfirms his stupidity
every time *grin*

Stupid to require the display to be blanked, makes a
lot more sense to just plug in the charger and forget
the display. You have to charge the idevice anyway.

There is however an addon for the youtube app that does allow that.

Works just as well with an iOS device and is in fact the way
I usually do it for the youngest turk, because he is often in
the situation where it isnt as convenient to plug in the charger.

There are plenty of youtube downloaders that work fine on anything you like.

Just as true of iOS.

The obvious better way is to use the addon for the youtube app.

Because you actually are that stupid/incompetent and
that is presumably why you got the bums rush from
your previous employment and ended up a pathetic
excuse for a troll/pathological liar in here.

You get real fucking radical and use a different browser.

Yes, but at least with chrome, all you have to do is hit the home
button again, see the play bar on the screen, tap the play diamond,
press the power button again to blank the screen and listen to just
the audio with the screen blanked for as long as you like.

Wrong, as always.

No you are not.

Only if you are too stupid to even notice the youtube downloaders.
Plenty of those allow you to specify the format you want the download
in and allow you to specify mp3 etc which downloads JUST the audio.

Stupid goal to have the screen off IMO.

Yes, see my list and the above.

That is the worst way to do what you want to achieve.

Its actually hit the power button again.

Works like that in Firefox too, but not in Dolphin. Didn’t bother to try
any more than those 3, there are countless other browsers for iOS.

I already tried that on iOS.

The display is still lit (although dimmed).

I guess I could trick iOS by changing the background to black.
Do you think that would work to effectively shut off the display?

While Safari is the most brain dead of all the iOS browsers that I tested,
it really doesn't matter which browser you use on iOS, since none of them
do what Android browsers do quite easily.

Unfortunately, on iOS, with a video playing in any browser, once you turn
off the display, the video stops playing on iOS in any browser I tested.

Yes, I do have a black background.

More of your pathological lying.

And the youtube app addon does it even easier than with any
android browser, BECAUSE JUST ONE TAP ON THE POWER
BUTTON BLANKS THE SCREEN AND KEEPS THE YOUTUBE
APP PLAYING WITH A COMPLETELY BLANK SCREEN.

You're so fucking stupid that you can't even follow the detailed
tap by tap description of how to do it in both Chrome and Firefox.

But which youtube addon is it?

To test all the Android and Youtube addons would be a PITA unless we know
which one works.

It makes a lot more sense
to have the charger plugged in and the display blanked.

Display ON is disturbing during nights.

Aside of that, full rate charging with screen on
puts unnecessary thermal stress on hardware and battery.

Devices often dislike being used for car navigation
during hot days, being simultaneously charged.

You have evidently no clue about lithium cell chemistry
and speeding up of undesired side reactions.

wrong.

lithium ion chargers are designed to not cause problems (except in the
note 7 :)).

overruled right back. there is absolutely no issue whatsoever with
using a device and charging it at the same time. i do it fairly
regularly, including in a car.

put another way, if it's too hot for the device, it's too hot for
humans.

The chargers do not care about battery lifetime shortening,
nor overheating messages.

Humans do not get so hot.
