I never said I want there for grad school - although you didn't get the veiled mention of the lion. Let's call it a phallic symbol - maybe that will make sense (it's not a lion, but we called it the lion and girls always sat on it to take pictures - little understanding the symbolism). My grad school work was at a far newer university - one whose roots date back to around the time of the declaration of independence. > he still has yet to answer the question, which means the bullshit meter > is still reading very high. I've given you *plenty* of personal information, and, just as I show my desktop, you show yours. Tell me your degrees and the schools you attended.

I hadn't expected you to get those hints, especially about what I called the "lion". I'm actually surprised you figured out the science building was adjacent to Memorial Hall, which is so fugly you'll never forget it for the rest of your life once you've been there. Supposedly they did studies in WWI in the spacious halls when they designed the alpha bravo baker style code (I'm told), where they had people with various accents yell to each other to figure out what they were saying. > as for ugly academic buildings, you obviously haven't seen the stata > center at nearby mit: I used to row down the Charles toward Boston, from Weld almost to the tech museum, and, when I caught a crab, I had to get a tetanus shot. Really big (as compared to Harvard anyway, in terms of sheer open space for science folks out on the prairie and engineering students in the engineering building). The old campus was hemmed in by the city, much like Harvard, but the place used to be owned by the military in WWII, so, there are lots and lots of army barracks out on the prairie and a K woods filled to the brim with ticks (ask me how I know). The place was was so big compared to where I went for undergrad, you had to take a bus just to get from one class to the other. Decent football stadium though. They thought they had a great football team in my day, but they really were simply the worst of the best - which they found out when they didn't get a bowl bid - and then when they jumped leagues, they got creamed for years. And, as usual, what about you? What are your degrees and from where?

He was so insistent in wanting to know where others went to school, I
thought I would let him know that I attended SU.

I'm sure I make mistakes, but I've been learning the English language since I was born, so I have a head start on most people. In addition, I've been a regular of alt.usage.english for a couple of decades, where I have learned the difference between who and whom, lay and lie, rock and stone, dirt and soil, less and fewer, ISIS and Daesh, etc. I know where a comma goes, where a hyphen goes, where the semicolon goes, and, whether or not to put the period inside or outside the closing double quotes (and I break that rule because I like the British methodology better). I'm sure there may have been one or three times I've misspelled a word, and maybe even once in a while a misplaced "their" versus "there" or "brake" versus "break", by accident, but, at least I *know* the difference, which many on Usenet don't. Heck, I even know how to capitalize Constitution and Usenet, and how the British do things differently, e.g., they consider being in the hospital a "condition" similar to how we consider being in jail, so they say "in hospital" as we say "in jail", but we say "in the hospital". [sic] If I had wanted to, I could *change* and write dumbly like the rest do, but I choose to be sophisticated, so you'll note that all my punctuation is generally precise, my spelling exact, and my diction superb. Far better than most.

Thanks for the > grins and giggles, FPP. : ) I love whenever you post because it's easy to see the herd association in all your posts. Lumping the iOS users into three categories, you and FPP and Lewis fit into the first category, which are the model to study because of your simple approach to things. The second category exhibits the same tendencies as you do, but they are more complex, so it's not as obvious (nospam and rod speed and others fit into that second, more complex category). The third category would be the likes of David Empson and Sobriquet and Michelle and Patty Winter, who don't respond with the typical Apple-induced marketing replays. In summary, I have learned a lot about Apple users' psychology in this thread - but I owe most of my insight to you. Thank you!
