All of a sudden today, I'm getting ads for videos, I think they all
were, in the middle of whatever I'm doing, on my phone.

Is there a particular app that I can find and delete, perhaps? Or
something in memory?

Two nights ago I bought a book on Amazon, and as soon as I paid, they
offered to let me read the same book for free on Kindle, so I wouldn't
have to wait until my book came. I did it. At least one of the ads
today mentioned Kindle. Do you think that's where they found me? Any
way to undo that?

I'm brand new to Android so this is something that I just learned: long
press on a notification to see which app issued it. For me, a long
press on a notification shows a larger screen (for the app that is
showing the notification) and there is an "App Info" button that I can
press. That will show which installed app is associated to the
notification.

You did not say WHERE you are seeing the ads. If not as a notification
then WHERE do you see ads? In the web browser? If so, which one? I
recall reading some web browsers that come with a built-in ad blocker
(Opera and Slimjet, both Chromium based). For others, like Firefox, you
need to install an adblocker add-on (I use uBlock Origin).

Good to know.

Oh, cool. I didnt' know that. I just retrurned a couple adnroid
books to the library, but they were android 2 and elementary so I
didn't learn anything.

I don't really know. Maybe I was in a maps program, going to the next
page like Download map, or Settings, and all of sudden pops up a full
screen ad for a movie. I don't think the maps app is displaying that
but I don't know what is.

I haven't even started any webbrowser when this happens.

I haven't fiddled with the phone since I posted so I'm fiddling now,
to better answer your questions. Well it hasn't happened with one
map program so maybe it was Play Store. I found one app that said it
included ads. I'm pretty sure I did not dl anything like that, but
anyhow it hasn't happened yet. I will pay more attention and post
back. Maybe play store does this, even if it didn't just now, but at
least it's not happening all the time everywhere.

I thought this problem might be so well known I ddidn't need more
info. Sorry.

BTW, I basically am too, just about 6 weeks. I had a smart phone for
maybe 3 years but it had so little memory I couldnt install anything
and I didn't find anytihing to do with it, except use the contact
list. I used the camera a bit but it kept jumping out of camera for
reasons I didn't understand. And when I turned the camera sideways,
often the screen image didnt' rotate. I think I should give the
phone to someone but I don't know who.
