*Smartphone makers don't bother to comply with EU repairability
requirements*

Vast majority of new devices on market still don't give repair
information to owners, but give themselves top marks for repairability

Use repair websites like iFixIt for more independent repairability
scores and instructions.

I agree, the *issue* is compliance with the government regulations.

In fact, given I've been harping on poor battery design in certain brands
for years, I am happy that the article stated in February 2027 the
requirements for replaceable batteries, with exceptions, kick into effect.

FACTS...

The new rules have been in place for about a year.
<https://single-market-economy.ec.europa.eu/news/new-eu-rules-durable-energy-efficient-and-repairable-smartphones-and-tablets-start-applying-2025-06-20_en>

The rules introduced a repairability score from A to E (least repairable).
Right to Repair Europe examined 2,334 smartphone records in the EPREL.
 a. 18% gave a link that led to spare-parts prices or repair instructions
 b. Yet 50% had no URL in the relevant field
 c. 19% linked to a general product/support page that had no related data
 d. Some records reportedly directed consumers to Temu or AliExpress parts!

The article claims some manufacturers gave themselves an A repairability
score despite the absence of the relevant repair information.

Others gave a grotesque price range which an order of magnitude in delta.
The commission was asked for comment but had not responded by publication.

Most people have never taken a logic course, so they can't separate facts
from opinion, but there was also a *lot* of assement in that article too!

Here's an article we can look at, for comparison, that may help us all.
*Repairing the market: A cross-European repairability check*

Hence they are not complying with the European law. I don't care about
that iFixIt. Not the issue.
