Is there an easy way to get ChatGPT for free without ads that SPEAKS?

I just want to speak with the ChatGPT and have it speak back to me.

The official ChatGPT app, unfortunately, costs money to make it speak.

I used it quite a lot when it was free. It's ability to emulate human
interaction never failed to astound me; but it's truthfulness and
reliability gradually came to light, and they weren't dependable. It
could pour out false information like Twitter and Facebook, albeit in
very educated language.

Stick with humans. And if you want well thought out opinions go to the
great philosophers whose views and books are available.

I am able to speak to mine, and I have not paid anything. I press the
headphones button by the text box.

Can you confirm the package name of the app you are saying speaks back?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ai.chat.gpt.app v2.0.9

Mine says very clearly "Elevate your experience with premium access" which
lists four things you get when you pay money, one of which is "audio
responses" which are described as "AI bot can read its responses aloud."

Maybe you're using a different app (or an older version perhaps)?

What you have seems to be a chatbot assistant from some third party
called Sage AI. ChatGPT comes from Open AI.

OK I checked, I am using this:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.openai.chatgpt

The version on the phone is 1.2024.143

It says it has in-app purchases.

It looks like the chatgpt website is down at the moment.

Thank you for doublechecking the chatgpt app you were using versus mine.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ai.chat.gpt.app v2.0.9
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.openai.chatgpt v1.2024.143

I installed your version.

When I start it up, it first shows an ad for paying money for premium.
Then when I press the green microphone and ask a question it says
"Speech recognition is not available on this device" even though I have no
problem using the microphone to convert speech to text when I use SMS.

Digging into what the requirements are, it seems to have a need for
market://details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox

But worse, when I type "Say something aloud", it won't talk either
and it doesn't give any indication that it wants to talk, so I can't debug.

I then noticed at the top right it has a yellow crown & says 18 remaining
messages, so it looks like you get 20 messages and then it fails anyway.

Do you know what that GPT AI app uses to talk & how to tell it to do it?

I didn't press the microphone button, I pressed the headphones
button. It is an icon that looks like a set of headphones. I don't know
why it uses that but it does.

I don't see any yellow crown.

Judging by your headers you are not in the same country as I am, perhaps
they have not rolled out voicemode to your country?
