I won't buy a car without AndroidAuto, period. They would have to do
heavy convincing. Like a 30% rebate on car total price.

I don't disagree that the car makers want in on our data, even so little as the sign-in login account which we would likely have to maintain, to sell. I looked up the number of makes with carplay and android auto. ~800 carplay <https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/available-models/> ~500 androidauto <https://www.android.com/auto/compatibility/vehicles/> It's a long list, but very short on American car makers other than Ford. The Germans support it, but they want us to use "their" system instead. The Japanese seem to support it whole hog, and the Koreans. True to the conversation, GM is notably a holdout, however, interestingly, today (Sept. 15, 2026) GM announced that its upcoming 2027 Silverado/Sierra interface will bring both CarPlay and Android Auto back into a picture-in-picture system alongside GM's native software. So GM appears to be partially reversing course, but Honda/Toyota/Ford/etc. are more dedicated to car play and/or android auto than GM seems to be. *GM updates its trucks' native software to coexist with CarPlay <https://www.theverge.com/transportation/994875/gm-chevy-gmc-truck-software-ui-carplay-android-auto> -- The whole point of every Usenet thread here is to add missing value.
