My old phone burst so I have a new phone and I decided to join the
with-in generation by getting a case that has a cover for the camera
lens.

Is it worth having a camera cover if the phone won't stay on the
magnetic bracket, or is it possible to have both?

I don't want a bracket that squeezes he phone because i often take it
off to do something while at a red light. The magnet was great when it
worked.

I keep my phone in my front pocket, try to keep keys in the other pocked
and have never scratched the lens, but I thought I should not tempt
fate.

But it's thicker elsewhere too and depite having a one-inch metal button
that is supposed to work with the magnetic cellphone holder, it keeps
falling off the dashboard. I've put the big metal plate inside the
case but that didn't help, I think, because the case is so much thicker
than the 2- or 3-mm aoft case the prior phone had.

This one also has a fold-out "leg" that lets it sit at an angle when
sitting sidewasys. That's nice but it makes the non-lens area thicker.

Am I going to be able to find a case with a lens cover that won't do
this??? Or should I give up on the lens cover and look for a simple
case?

Have any of you ever scratched your camera's lens? Did it ruin the
pictures?

With those, if the magnet is strong enough to hold the phone, it
interferes with the compass sand when stationary the satnav is confused
which direction it's pointing (when in motion the GPS allows it to work
out direction).

In the UK it is an offence to have your phone in your hand, while in the
driving seat of a vehicle, unless you are parked in a safe place with
the engine off.
At a red light would earn you lots of penalty points/fine/ban.

Are you sure? I'd think it'd be an *offense* there.

Same here, but I wonder what is the problem with red lights.

LOL :-D

Took me a bit of thinking, too. :-)

Decades ago here, we would see those sites on the roads announced with a
coloured light bulb. Some were so shabby that they used a kitchen
plastic bottle with shiny colours with a bulb inside put over the door.

Others used colour fluorescent stripes, expensive looking site from the
outside. Still do. Which is funny because they are officially
prohibited: if I know where they are and what they are, so does the
police...

I can always tell when someone is using their phone at a red light.
Cause when the light turns green they just sit there with their head
down working their phone. In heavy traffic the delay causes some at the
end of the line to miss the light. A good ticket IMO but never a cop
when you need one. Course you could always honk but that could be
dangerous cause in my area it might get you shot. We call it Road Rage...

Copilot seems to disagree:

Road Rage in Spain:

Recent research shows that 74% of Spanish drivers admit to engaging in
road rage behaviors, with aggressive overtaking, insults, and other
uncivil driving practices being common.

Over 7 million drivers overtake aggressively to intimidate others.

29% use their horn repeatedly as a complaint.

3.7 million have challenged other motorists to get out of their cars.

I drive almost daily here and have not noticed. There is some, but not
much. Maybe in some cities it is worse.
