I would have suggest this earlier if I had understood what it was you 
were after. I thought you wanted to really change the phone's host 
name. I've changed them as you did on my router so I could distinguish 
the various Android devices on my network.

Either that or edit a configuration text file... but only if the phone 
is rooted.
