I'm not sure of the contacts list as I just tell my phone to call Fred 
Jones on cell and the phone calls Fred Jones.

As far as SMS or email, I have a Droid Turbo, running Android 5.1.  On 
the top right side of the google keyboard, I have a small microphone. 
If I tap on the microphone it allows me to dictate my text.
