#17645 — the Fuschia OS - an overview/update

Interesting talk by some Chinese PhD.  The OS is getting a lot of negative feedback/comments on Hackernews [1] but I find it fascinating that someone is rethinking modern OS requirements.  Not going to give up my Linux/BSD boxes but it's interesting to rethink some stuff - needs change.

Actually, maybe the negativity is more directed towards Google than toward the OS.  Still, I'm interested.

If you just want an OS with bright colours, there's always Hannah Montana 
Linux!

They should release an updated, slutty version, based on Miley Cyrus'
new persona.  

Ah, those niche Linux distributions that eventually just turned out to
be Ubuntu with a color scheme and background.  There was a Christian
edition at one point, so of course someone had to come out with a
Satanic version too, just to be a dick.  All just Ubuntu with
background art and a color scheme.  Remember when distros used to have
a lot of variation? SuSE vs Mandrake vs Caldera vs Red Hat vs Debian vs
Slackware vs what else?  So fun.  We had Gnome 1 or 2, KDE 2 or 3,
Windowmaker, Blackbox/Fluxbox, early Enlightenment, 1280x768 etc. -
good times.

Anyway, wishing Fuschia luck - I like the idea of dropping convention
and see what we can do better.  Sandboxed apps for example seem like an
improvement.

I have looked at the article.  At some point he is trying to blame the
way Android is designed on the limitations of Linux and monolithic kernels.
That is slightly unfair, to say the least.
