#6902 — Java 8 API appearance

I note that the documentation for the JAVA API has had its format
changed again - I think this is the fourth version.

As learning curves go, getting to grips with a new format is not such a
big deal, but it still slows things down a bit for a while, and, as
usual, I wonder why the change was thought necessary.

They've stuck with something introduced in version 3, which is that in a
table of methods, the return type is on the left, and you have to find
the function name in the middle. I felt the version 2 format made more
sense. First the function name, then what you have to pass it, and
finally what you get back.

But no doubt I'm just a Luddite.

Sylvia.

Yes. I'm not talking about the syntax, but about the documentation.

Sylvia.
