Anyone who uses a bank which just accepts date of birth and address as
identity verification is off their trolley. If I'm not personally
present at the bank, and I'm accessing it over the internet, I expect
them to have given me a one-time-password toy that I can use.

In any case, to the extent that any money is stolen, it would be the
bank's loss, not the customer's, though the customer might have some
difficulty in the short term.

Sylvia.

Get ready for a PayPal crisis next. Many people got their paypal
accounts in order to pay for something on Ebay (the two services gained
popularity at about the same time) so it's almost certain that a
percentage of users decided on the same name and password for each
service. Anybody stupid enough to have chosen that long-derided
practice is now probably noticing their Paypal account has been used for
nefarious purposes - or drained - as well.

Bad times!

Not much help to those who don't log in very often.

I finally got an email from them asking me to change my password. The email
was sent a day or so *after* I changed the password.

Nice and timely there - yet another security fail.
