Name. address, cell phone number, and it also sends MB number,
HD number and MAC, which if you change, you are required to report, to
"reactivate" your OS. It also transmits GPS and never actually
switches off. When you turn Win8 off, it does an opossum, but the
wireless stays on. It's a NSA statistician's wet dream.
In XP days you just entered your registration number, which
could be an OEM. MB and MACS and HD's could be swapped around. No need
to reactivate. It did transmit your MAC, and HD number though, but
only if you updated online. Win 98 did nothing to ID you.
They'll probably want fingerprints,a retina scan, a voice
sample and a sperm count for Win 9 ..... "for your privacy".
	1984 --- so naive.

Erm... I am pretty sure I entered none of that on my Windows 8.1
computer. It activated fine without all that.

Now, Microsoft /does/ push you to create a Microsoft Live account and
tie that to your computer as your primary log-in (which is itself
quite idiotic), and during account creation it may /request/ all that
information when you create the account, but none of it is /required/
to activate and use Windows.
