From the «knew it» department: Title: Nintendo Switch runs FreeBSD Author: Thom Holwerda Date: Fri, 03 Mar 2017 20:20:15 -0500 Link: http://osnews.com/story/29698/Nintendo_Switch_runs_FreeBSD Interesting little tidbit for the weekend: we now know what operating system the Nintendo Switch is running. Since it's basically an NVIDIA Shield, I kind of expected it to be running Android - heavily modded, of course - but it turns out it's running something else entirely: it's running FreeBSD. Like Sony, Nintendo also opts for FreeBSD for its games console. This means of the four major gaming platforms, two run Windows, and two run FreeBSD. Fascinating.

That may simply be down to the need for high performance SMB. That's the only stand out feature that springs immediately to my mind which differentiates Linux from windows and FreeBSD. ;-) -- Johnny B Good
