Interesting point about systemd. I'm currently running Gentoo-derived
Sabayon but they don't support running without systemd as I recall even
though Gentoo does. I actually grabbed a Ubuntu live CD from Trinity but
with a quick try had no idea how to actually start Trinity... Oh well.

OTOH, Kubuntu 14.10 live ran fine with none of the issues I've been
having with Sabayon. So maybe I'm joining the "systemd is evil"
camp... Looks like I'll be doing some partition gymnastics and
installing Kubuntu on my laptop this weekend.
