I totally agree.  I used to scrape those little lint tracks with a swiss
army knife until inevitably i accidentally gouged the wheel, and had a
jumpy mouse ever after.  Optical was a huge improvement.  I'm nostalgic
for lots of old tech, but not mice-with-balls.
