I might add that my above paranoia even applies to the Pi - we don't know that it doesn't contain a hardware backdoor akin to Intel's iAMT, making any attempt at cryptographic security pointless before the horse leaves the gate so to speak. If you don't know about iAMT look it up. Scary stuff.
