I'm always reminded of that scene in Monty Python's Life of Brian where all Brian's followers are holding up sticks from which a sandal is dangling, the now orthodox way of representing the man who lost his sandal as he fled from them ... The /bin vs. /usr/bin and /opt thing was interesting. So was the one about make and its tab format. Didn't know the history behind either of them.
