When I started in my current job a little over two years ago, they gave me dual 27" monitors. I couldn't understand why I would ever need two monitors, much less figure out how to use them effectively. A few months later, I bought a second monitor for my home computer because I could no longer understand how I had ever managed to get anything done with only one. Also, I know spring is coming when I have to turn down the brightness to keep the temperature in my office at a tolerable level... As I was writing this, I suddenly rememberd that this isn't the first time I've had two monitors - around 20 years ago, I had a debugger (Borland TurboDebugger) that could display watched variables etc. on the secondary display while my program ran full-screen on the main display. This was only possible because the two adapters used different memory regions - the Hercules adapter ran in monochrome text mode at 0xb0000 while the VGA adapter ran in either color text mode or graphics mode, both at 0xb8000.
