One trick Ubuntu have really missed is being able to switch smoothly between the desktop and the phone. For example suppose you're writing an email on your phone on the train. When you get to work you'd like to carry on writing it on your PC. So you put your phone in a holder, and the same screen pops up on your desktop so you can carry on seamlessly except with a bigger screen and keyboard. Or suppose you're browsing the web on your phone. When you get home, you put your phone in it's cradle and the web browser pops up on the screen with the same tabs open at the same place on the monitor. Phone OS and app developers spend a lot of time working on 'sync'ing between phone, cloud, and desktop. Despite this most apps don't sync and you have to have separate copies on your PC and phone, each set up differently, or use a web-based system like google docs. For some apps like Evernote the main selling point is that it syncs between your devices. OTOH if your desktop was just your phone, that happened to be using a full screen, keyboard, hard disc, etc, there would be no need to 'sync' , all your apps would have the same settings on both. People would be willing to spend more on a phone alone than a phone + PC, so phone makers should love this. Ubuntu is in a unique position to do this, and if they don't then eventually apple will. -- View this thread at http://squte.com/node/4727#comment-10850
