Mac Preview badly renders some clipping. Advice wanted. Do something resembling ... clip newpath ... moveto ... lineto gsave 0 setgray 4 setlinewidth stroke grestore 1 setgray 2 setlinewidth stroke In Mac Preview, at some zooms some of the 0 setgray ... stroke that was overwritten by the 1 setgray stroke then bleeds through the clip. Sigh. But in Adobe Pro, at all zooms it looks perfect. If any printers -- now or in the future -- use the same rasterisation technology as does Mac Preview, it will be wrong on those printers. Some files to illustrate. Which would work perfectly on a white background, but would fail on a pale non-white background. Thoughts?

Mac Preview is just a previewer and seems to have implemented a limited subset of PostScript. I recall having issues with it not handling the Separation colorspace. I wouldn't be concerned that some printer manufacturer would use the same RIP and be able to market it as a PostScript capable printer. -- -- Rod -- rodd(at)polylogics(dot)com
