Hi
I'm a PS newbie and dealing with an old document management system so please bear with me!...
Anyhow, the document management system I'm trying to work with here prints postscript documents with overlays; the overlays are .docs printed to file as .eps files loaded to the RIP on the printer using the following code:
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
/InBuf 8192 string def %input buffer
/WriteToFile % writes to file 'filename'
{
/destination exch (w) file def % Open dest file
{
currentfile InBuf readstring
exch destination exch writestring
not { exit } if
} loop
destination closefile
} bind def
(OVERLAYS/PENS0103.PS.p0001.eps) WriteToFile
%!PS-Adobe-3.0 EPSF-3.0
%%Title: Microsoft Word - PENS0103.doc
%%Creator: PScript5.dll Version 5.2.2
%%CreationDate: 7/15/2014 16:23:41
...yada yada yada to describe the document - in this case "PENS0103.eps"
%%EOF
What I'd like to be able to do is interrogate the RIP to get the contents of the OVERLAYS directory; whether that's to print it on the printer or return it as strings. Anyone able to help?
Thanks
Malc

Something like this should work as a start.
This doesn't handle really long pathnames.
/Courier 11 selectfont
50 750 moveto
%(./*)
(OVERLAYS/*)
{
gsave show grestore
0 -12 rmoveto
currentpoint 50 lt { showpage 50 750 moveto } if pop
}
128 string filenameforall
