There have been two excellent postscript answers to http://codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/9266/emulate-a-7-segment-display "Emulate a 7-segment display"

And I wanted to try a different approach. I've pretty much given up on trying to golf this, but here's what I got.

Instead of passing in as a defined name, wouldn't it be "shorter" to just place it on the stack with -c "1101101" ?

So that led me to this mess:

      1 (1101101)
      2 0
      3 1 index
      4 {1 and 255 mul 3 copy put pop 1 add}forall
      5 pop
      6 dup
      7 dup
      8 3 5 8[.02 0 0 .05 0 0]{}image

It doesn't place pixels correctly, but does give you big blobs on the screen controlled by ascii-binary.

But then, I thought, the 7-segment display itself is a little grid controlled by a function. Could we abuse the spot function to active pixels (I mean, "cells", of course, super-zoomed) individually?

But I've been beating my head over how the halftones are supposed to work. I have no idea as yet how to begin abusing them. :(

The RSS hasn't been updated since 2010? Maybe you should rename it whtold.xml :)
