I'm confused. It used to be that gswin32c.exe needed to see a "showpage" request at the end of any short little 1-page .ps file (valid, of course) in order to provide a visual display of the graphic being created there. Recently I've come up against .ps files in which that "showpage" needs to be commented out (preceded by a "% ", or deleted entirely) if gswin32c is to display the graphic -- with "showpage" present, gswin32c bombs out -- fires up its DOS box briefly, then closes it without ever showing any page. Any idea what's going on? Or, what further info should I provide to help narrow the problem down to manageable form? ... sample files? Thanks! Cheers, -- tlvp -- Avant de repondre, jeter la poubelle, SVP.

Its not really going to be possible to help without an example file (a nice simple one please, not a 10's of megabytes, hundreds of pages, example...)

Are you launching the document from the file-browser, using the file-type associations? If so, then look for the .pif file (extension may have changed in the decade since I last played with this) that is automatically generated when you launch a console application. If you right-click on the pif and go to properties, you can find any command-line options that are silently being passed to the program.

In the course of seeking up a suitable example, I found that all the candidates I thought I had -- with a "% showpage" at the end of the file, accompanied by a %-comment wondering why the file wouldn't display while the "showpage" was un-shielded by "%" -- now showed as well with or without the showpage "in the flow". Puzzling. I have no idea what changed. Let me look a little longer, perhaps I'll stumble across one again. If so I'll either post it (if it's short enough) or give a link to it (and rest assured: it's all hand-coded PS, no longer and no harder than what a PS beginner can manage :-) ). Cheers, and thanks in advance if I do find one to offer here, -- tlvp -- Avant de repondre, jeter la poubelle, SVP.
