I'll study those lines and probably incorporate them ...
So far I'd just given my local variables long names beginning
with the procedure-name like  kcharbychar_str  but was
planning to standardise on a more Perl-like eg:
`text::str`, for all the variables in ~/ps/lib/text.ps
That's more verbose, but it's very low-tech and readable.
OTOH, it is about time I became fluent with these local dicts :-)
