If you want to serve hundrets of pages per second you won't use plain PHP anyway but put everything behind a cache or pre-compile your scripts. On my personal websites I serve about 2-3 requests per second in average for the domains on my server which are used to serve public content (and there are more for other services as well). And so far none of them seem to be very slow due to the "crappy programming" of WordPress or DokuWiki (which both use a central index.php to handle most but not all requests): <http://arnowelzel.de> (using WordPress) <http://de-rec-fahrrad.de> (using DokuWiki) <http://criticalmass-augsburg.de> (using WordPress) And the server is a quite average machine - about 6 years old (AMD Opteron CPU, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD) and is far from getting overloaded: <http://0x0c.de/service/munin/0x0c.de/root.0x0c.de/load.html> <http://0x0c.de/service/munin/0x0c.de/root.0x0c.de/cpu.html> -- Arno Welzel http://arnowelzel.de http://de-rec-fahrrad.de http://fahrradzukunft.de

And I would never host ANY site on a machine outside of a data center - even my own. But when you run a crap site that no one cares about, you can run it anywhere. Oh, and BTW - hits (which is what you claim to be displaying) is NOT the same as page views. But you're too stoopid to even know that. The site he referenced is owned by Strato AG. However, they are an ISP as well as a web hosting company. All that proves is the access to his server goes through Strato AG. It says nothing about the location of his server - it could easily be in his basement. -- ================== Remove the "x" from my email address Jerry Stuckle jstucklex@attglobal.net ==================

That counts. Whether Strato also does the domain registration and shows up as the registrant doesn't matter. foo@bar:~$ ping arnowelzel.de PING arnowelzel.de (85.214.147.94) 56(84) bytes of data. https://whois.domaintools.com/85.214.147.94 Your turn for another ludicrous objection.
