Indeed, I had not considered search-by-resource (thanks for the pointer), but rather a simple search box (such as used by the Google web search). I do not expect anybody to type in several hundrets of characters in such a field, so the 2000 character limit of old IE should be no problem even for UTF-8 character encoding. A nice (side-)effect of using a GET request would be that the URI could be easily shared and bookmarked. -- Christoph M. Becker
