That is not faulty encoding; the “Ⓡ” (“R”) for “registered trademark” or the 
“™” (“(tm)”) for “trademark” *belongs there*, and *you* have not used the 
correct locale encoding to decode it.

But as you can see from my other follow-up, you have much bigger problems to 
solve than "faulty encoding".
